Thank you so much! For some reason some of this guy's responses often bothered me but I'm never the one to start online arguments.

I just emailed and got return phone calls from 4 different dealers.

They all want to sell their cars.

But some are as high as 30k over list. 89k for a car that lists for 59k.

It's really disappointing. And coming from a guy that has bought a lot if Ford cars, my loyalty is gone.

Sure, I get that this happens with hot new items. I get it. But it shouldn't. And it certainly makes me rethink where my next car purchases will be.

Spread the search net wider Seth. I emailed about 15 dealers from Vermont to Texas to find the car I just bought and its a mere 4 runner

If you stay persistent and make it a chase, eventually someone will cave. I can't imagine many buyers outside of the Bay Area wanting to fork over a 20k premium.

You can use the report post icon and no one will know Carlos.

I love the GT350, but 90k is Cayman GT4, Z06 or M5 money. They're all really different cars, but when you get close to 100k, you're options really open up.

And at that price I think the gt4 actually holds value better than the gt350 handily. If both sold at retail, I think similar.

Yeah man, and it's just more than I care to spend.

I'm sure to be quite content with the Z51 if I actually pull the trigger.

Seth, I have been following this thread for the past few days and have been reserving judgement. Good thing that jacka $$ is gone from here. Anyway. I am a big fan of North American cars and have had multiple mustangs, corvette etc. I love my big burly V8. That being said, if you can find the GT350 at msrp or just a tad over then do it. If not, I really think you should seriously think about the corvette. Obviously, I would say get the Z06, but you are not convinced to make the move, I understand the baby steps. With that being said, you need to get your hands on the stingray. This will satisfy you more than you know. If ever you get bored, flipping this car is not going to be to painful, it is a strong re seller. Life really is short, bad things happen fast, you will then not be able to do such a move. Have fun shopping!

And, like the now previous generation GT, when Ford sees their dealers adding $20-$30k on to the msrp guess what will happen to the msrp of the next one?? The manufacturer is not going to let the dealers make all of the profit. And they know damn well it is going on. Hence the new GT's incredible increase in msrp. What 4x the old one??

This is one of the reasons why I really liked what Lexus did at first with the LFA. It was a lease with the purchase option to be negotiated. And speaking of a car. Wow. That thing had me all hot and bothered after driving one.

Where I live - used GT4s are going for over MSRP.

Love that car. Not $100K+ though unless it came out with every factory option covered in leather with deviated stitching on the headliner, key fob, deviated caliper PCCBs and leather lined wheel wells. :D

Thanks for the info Jim. I've lead a relatively exhausting search. I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that it's not going to happen.

And typical me, I'm warming up to the Z51 quite a bit.

I really appreciate this post.

I actually just shared it with my wife. She's even now pushing me to do it. Along with my father and my closest pals.

I know myself pretty well. I'll be super happy with the Z51 until the exact moment I realize I can upgrade with no impact to my life or my savings plan.

Going the extra distance ($$$$) for the Z06 is just not something I would do comfortably. And that would take away the fun. And let's be real, this is about having fun. I have a feeling the ability to go 0-60 in less than 4, will suffice.

So your post pretty much helped give me the push I needed. Granted, it was not that hard, but I do appreciate it.

Life is short. And bad stuff does happen fast. Might as well seize the moment.

Going back again today to drive it. I'll update the thread later on. Thanks again.

This put a smile on my face! Very happy for you and your wife. You will forget about the mustang the instant you open your garage and see this beast in there. Don't forget to show your Ford dealer the stingray, and how idiotic and non appreciative they are for your business. Maybe you can hint to them you may switch your fleet of vehicles you have for work to GM.
keep us posted on the color combination.

Actually I've heard ford is so upset with their dealers that they've promised to up production numbers for the 2017 gt350 but of course this could be a rumor.

At far as the ford gt. That car was always going to be priced much higher than the previous one before the 350 bs. Remember in 2012 this same adm crap happened to the gt500 and the last year of production deals were there for the taking.

Seth here's what I would try:

I would contact the General Manager or General Sales Manager at any Ford dealership that has a car that you are willing to buy. Make them an offer. If you are willing to pay $10k over then make that offer. Also, expand your search radius. It's relatively inexpensive to ship a car. Depending on the location of the car you could pay a service to inspect it for you or even perhaps find a fellow TRF member willing to put eyes on it for you.

Truth is that the average person has a hard time getting financed for $20k over MSRP on a car. (85% of buyers finance or lease) Banks lend based on invoice and MSRP and getting advanced that type of number isn't easy. Dealers sometimes have people willing to pay it but can't get them financed on it. So it may not hurt to contact all of them and make the offer. If they say no leave off with your name and number should they change their mind.

Thanks for posting.

If I'm not mistaken it was a used version. Which I'm not opposed to, especially as it had less than 300 miles.

However, still 10k over list. At first the whole gouging thing didn't bother me all that much. But the more I think about it, the more annoyed I get.

As a guy that runs a business based on repeat sales I just find the whole scenario "wrong".

It is what it is, but with my wanting to trade in my existing car and my theory on developing relationships, I'm not keen on buying based via eBay and pressing a button.

I'm officially going in a different direction.

Revisiting the Ford GT350

Oh yeah!!!!! 😎😎😎😎. Can't wait.

And Jim, I think that most people buying these are buying them to sit in the garage in storage and are paying cash. So the dealerships do not care.

Otherwise wait for 6 to 12 months and one will pop up 'cheaper' when the 'hype' is somewhat over 😉

And if you want one right now . . . . play the game and flip some bucks

That's life !

Was or still is the same thing with the Rolex Daytona . . . . they created a hype

Just see Apple . . . people waiting hours in line to get a new phone . . . a new phone . . .

Marketing works !

See you later Ford. Hello Chevy.

I drove the Z06 to satisfy my curiosity. It was crazy fast, to the point I actually felt unsafe. Going from 2nd to 3rd my ass was all over the road, and I wasn't even trying.

The Z51 is quite perfect for me, I think.

Awesome man! Congrats!

Love the targa top too. Probably one of my favorite feature on the Vette.

Thanks Jim. And I have to agree.

I absolutely LOVE the ability to take the top off super quick.

The entire thing really far exceeded my expectations.

And while I love the Mustang, there really is no comparison between the Z51 and the 5.0. I am sure the GT350 is an amazing car, but I am also sure that I won't miss it.

I am beside myself with glee. Loving it.

Thanks Tom.

I wanted this, black or red.

Red is probably my favorite. But too much for me.

I like the contrasting colors here. Really pops.
