Do you take off your Rolex at airport security?

I used to, don't anymore. I've never been questioned since I've worn it on my wrist either at a sporting event or airport when going through security I've never been asked to remove it.

I never remove my watch when going through airport security. Sometimes my Submariner sets off the alarm and I am pulled aside for a closer search. I comply and move on. Since I get TSA Precheck, I don't have to remove my laptop or take off my shoes which helps getting me through security.

For the "I wear it to avoid getting magnetised", can't it just as easily be magnitised going through the full body XRay scanner?

I never take mine off. I have never been asked to remove it (nor would I). My Rolex stays on my wrist (never goes in my pocket or a basket..etc).

There was a story not long ago about a 76-year-old man who had a fellow passenger (a woman with a young child no less) steal his day date with diamond dial from his bin before it went through the conveyor, it was a present from his wife and son. I think most people take off jewelry just to avoid the TSA security theater and annoyance. Those guys can really delay you and ruin your day especially if you are on a tight schedule.

I never take mine off, in Australia or overseas, and I've never been asked to. I've not had a watch set off any airport security sensors, either.

I don't, in fact I just travelled from Canada to southern Italy and no one questioned me through many airports and transfers.

Yes, you are being to paranoid. I have yet been asked to remove my watch in any airport security process.

If I recall correctly on a couple of occasions, I think I may have had an extra wave of the hand held wand over the watch if the body scanner has gone off. It hasn't happened for a long time now.
It was a long while ago and I think the technology has changed and improved a bit since those days.
A long time ago on occasion I have been asked to remove the watch so it went in a tray for the cabin baggage scanner. No problems.

I put all of my things into my carry on bag, it always seemed like the most hassle-free way to do it. I travel quite I bit.

My experience is that sometimes they don't care if you have a big bottle of water in your hand luggage but always ask to remove watch, belt and shoes.

No point of arguing so I always put the watch into my laptop bag before security check.

TSA in my experience are not the most confidence inspiring group of people. Let me leave it at that.

Travel a lot and never take mine off nor have been asked. If people want to why not just slip in to the back of your shoe or in the carry on. If anyone evwr asks me to remove it I'll refuse and deal with whatever.

According to Rolex service center it can be. I recently had an issue with my sub being nine seconds faster a day. I sent it in for servicing and regulation. The estimate came back as heavily magnetized with impact to the movement. When I contacted the Rolex service center they advised that they would service it under warranty at this time but no other time. They also advise that going through the airport Metal detectors can magnetize the watch. They advised to place it in a pouch in your carry-on luggage. That's what I intend to do in the future.
