In all fairness, maybe these guys were referring to the city in Illinois.

Funny how the spell check didn't uppercase your "champaign" for you, too.

I'd consider using a different spell checker. Ideally one that can differentiate geography from oenology.

not the TRF spell check... spell it wrong when typing quickly and it auto corrects to "champaign" in lowercase. just saying.

Your's doesn't autocorrect when typing? Guess its my web browser that is doing it. It auto corrects or underlines misspellings as i am typing. Never thought about where the corrections were coming from before. Yes, I'll name him Eddie going forward.

In any case. I spelled it wrong. My French is terrible, therefore I can't be as pretentious as i was going for.

No, mine doesn't. Anyway, no problem

I'm off for a non-pretentious beverage.

Produced by the makers of Pabst Blue Ribbon. I didn't think that was real at first.

I think a member from St. Louis has a hangar with a jet and a chopper. He posted some nice pics a few months ago

Chiboy, I think you've nailed it. When the thread title requests it then it's to be expected and very appropriate. I only find it pretentious when it's not so subtly displayed in an unrelated topic. That's when it looks more like a cry for attention. It's like when a guy who owns a Porsche shows up at the bar wearing a Porsche shirt, just in case anyone missed the car outside. More pathetic then pretentious really.

Otherwise I enjoy seeing the spoils of victory as much as the next guy.

Don't see it at all as being pretentious or showing of. Just sharing the better things in life with often most like minded people.
This. For goodness sakes we all participate on a forum celebrating what many consider an ostentatious display of wealth.

Do I consider some of the posts contrived? Sure. But it's all in good fun.

I, for one, find it uncomfortable to post about spending thousands or tens of thousands of dollars on a material item I could otherwise purchase for twenty dollars at Walmart. This forum provides a nice outlet for me to converse with like minded folks without being judged.

I order my unicorn online in a can. It feels less pretentious than going into a butcher and asking for a specific cut, and to be honest canned meat goes better with my Champale anyway.

Ok! I'll sink my 27 meters yacht only for having an excuse to buy a new one. Filling it with 6 tones of unicorn meat.

I do appreciate and find value in those that post pics of alternative band options. A lot easier to see the asthetics than to visualize.
I'm partial to the "should I take my Sub, GMT or etc. on my vacation to Hawaii, Fiji, or...." posts.

Funny you mention that. I saw some Tumi stuff when I was shopping for a carry on and found it to be ridiculously priced a lot earlier this year. I've seen you post about it and it made me do some reading. I may have to acquire some of that luggage and a wallet. I love the perspective I get in here from people. Show off luggage!

I will say that our Tumi luggage is awesome especially the way you can hook all the bags together. When traveling with the family I can hook four rolling bags together and pull them through the airport with one hand with ease, and with the other hand push the pram with the baby in it.

Plus you look really pretentious to other people. You will get the "hey look at that guy he needs four huge suitcases to go anywhere" looks from everyone.

You're on a ROLEX forum. Anyone who claims they only have one because they appreciate the mechanics, and pretends that not even once ounce of them cares about the image it carries is a liar. LOL. It's a place where people enjoy the finer things in life, so it's to be expected that people want to share that with others.

This post is like complaining on a Ferrari forum that members act like they enjoy attention.
