Only on the internet do I read about dudes wearing 36mm watches and telling the world how awesome they are in year 2017.

36mm is way too small for a grown adult man.

Personally, I do not care what the opinion others have on this subject. The DD 36 is pure class. Period. I'm enjoying mine immensely. However, I've tried on the DD 40 and love that one too. A lot. The DD 41 seemed nice too but I found the bezel to be a bit too wide. Either one you choose is fine, but a true watch connoisseur shouldn't be swayed by the male vs female argument.

Yeah, right. I’m pretty sure there isn’t a guy on this forum considered more desirable than Ryan Gosling, and he wears 34mm! Heck, lots of Hollywood leading men wear smaller vintage watches.

Love 36mm it's not about what others think but what you like. If all you do is worry about other people's opinion you will never be happy. Popular opinion changes often.

I can't get over how some people have become groomed or subliminally brainwashed somehow to only love ginormous watches. Not everyone has the same build or wrist size. It's not a one size fits all world for watches. So saying that a 36mm is too small for men is really crazy nonsense IMO. 36mm will always be a classy understated men's size watch and will look best on some men's wrist. It looks fabulous on those who shared their 36mm photos here.
Just my opinion, but on many women, I find the 36mm to look too big as if they are wearing their husbands watch. Like carrying around an anchor on the wrist. Again, not a one size fits all. Works for some and not others. So no, I do not think 36mm is too small for men these days. This statement is so ridiculous to me.

I think your DayDate looks perfect on your wrist!

36mm DD is still the best looking. The 40 bezel is still too ungainly in person.

I tried on a 36mm and it was too small on my 7 3/4" wrist. 40mm is my sweet spot. I also wear a 44.25mm Speedmaster and while it's a large watch, it works for me. It's not just about balancing your wrist size with your watch size. It's about wearing what YOU like. There is no right or wrong.

Naturally, it's how it looks on your wrist.
But there are darker issues at play. Does the above statement refer to how it looks to you, or looks to others?
Looking at your watches, your taste seems conservative, classic, self assured and non sycophantic.
It's a bit worrying that you now feel 36 too small. I doubt your wrist size has changed. Or the position where you wear your watch. So that leaves your mind subliminally telling you to keep up with the times.
But the times are a-changin' (Bob Dylan)
You echo me exactly sans leaning towards a larger size.
How does your mind's eye see the watch on your wrist? From the posted pic - it looks great.
Some large watches are only available in one size, Deep Blue JC for example. I deem it too large for me, but still bought it. I think perhaps if the 36 never was, but was 38 - I would be just as pleased, as I think you would have.
Btw, you know when someone opts for a black 116500 & 326934 that he's bucking the trend and buying for himself.
Regards

I used to love my gold DD 36mm however it just seems too small compared to other watches.

With the trend towards watches 40mm or greater I'm wondering if others are finding 36mm to be too small for a gents watch.

I love trying on watches and my wrist isn't that big, but when I try on a watch less than 40mm it seems better suited for my wife.
It fits you perfectly, better than a 4o mm watch, but wear what you like. 36 wears great for most of people

I agree with u OP

36 is now best suited for women, imo also.

For those who claim that 36 is perfect.... that's fine since it's all matter of personal preference.

Just keep in mind that the world has moved on.

Correct; here's a picture of a 50mm watch on my 6.5 in. wrist. How does this look?

How about the 36mm DD?

If Rolex didn't make a 36mm (give or take a mm) watch, I never would've bought one.

Great illustration...the 50mm on my (even smaller) wrist would look even more out-of-scale. Thanks for this.

You end the discussion for me. That 36 looks awesome on you!

It makes my arm tired just thinking about the 50mm watch.

My personal opinion is that 36mm suits older men (at least over 50) better than it does younger men. It also depends a lot on the size of your wrists and the size of you in general (if you are tall or fat a smaller watch might look...well, small). From the pic you posted of it on your wrist, I think it looks fine, however I also don't think a 40mm watch would look too big.

36mm doesn't have the wrist presence I personally like on my average 18cm / 7in wrist.

a lot of black and white definitive yes and no answers coming from certain people in this thread. I loved a vintage piece, 34mm, solid gold, bought it, wore it for 10+/- years. Now I wear my 36mm, this has always been my grail watch. No sub or Tudor is going to change the fact the I have never been interested in them. Regardless of their size. No matter the fad, season or trend will change the fact that.....

40 years from now my children will only have ever seen me wear my gold Rolex. Just as I only remember my father and his father wearing theirs. such as it goes on......

I always thought a DJ on jubilee looks great in 36, especially if worn a bit loose. If your wrist is 7.5 inches + though, maybe go bigger in my opinion.

To my eyes (I'm 28) the watch looks perfect/a little large on your wrist...is that the 36 or 40 in your pic?

I'm 26 and I think the same. Oversized watches look terrible on young and old alike.
