Unless you're OCD, just wait till the service date and it'll come back good as new!

Wait till you scratch the case, and it will happen.....you'll ge over it, and will get to the point that you'll realise the watch is still as beautiful with however many scratches it has....you stop noticing them. You'll also come to realise that when it goes in for a service in a few years it comes back like new watch......wear it and enjoy it

Someone should start a thread and see how many people scotch pad their brushed watches. One of those voting ones :)

Urinate on the scratch, be sure crown is locked down. Take a good silk tie, and buff rigorously. If the scratch remains, repeat with new tie. If again scratch persists, rinse watch with warn soapy water, throw out ties...

Just goes to show (many comments, not just the OP's) men are buying Rolex watches..Subs no less..to be worn like women wear jewelry, except women don't worry about their jewelry this much.

And, OP, that scratch is nothing. My Macbook will give a clasp a scratch bigger than that just by looking at it crosswise... And let's say you replace the clasp (a little insane), you will surely scratch that one quickly. Just leave it be. Now you don't need to use soft gloves to put the watch on. |

Perhaps you should bubble wrap your entire forearm to prevent further scratches.

it does look tight. I found that one should be able to do pushups comfortably or it is to tight (or loose...). Otherwise you truly will choke your wrist if you do something physical like carrying something heavy.

Does anyone have any "after" pictures of a DIY buffing using a Scotchbrite? Like Bladeshot and TickTockChuck, I wonder how readily one can match the original brushing pattern, or avoid over-polishing and rounding out the edges.

I've yet to see a proper straight grain in anyone's photos using a green pad. They're always crooked no matter how good of a job the person thinks they did. I'll take natural scratches over a poorly executed brush job any day. Just say 'no' to brushing at home. |

Do not attack it with a scotchbrite pad. It is far from the same as the factory finish. |

The grain is different depending on what coarseness scotchbrite pad or sandpaper you use. |

I'm more worried about the fact that you wear cufflinks to a Pub.

I feel your pain. I dinged the lug of my Black Bay after about a week of having it and this week took a chunk out of one of the alloys on my month old car.. Stuff like that drives me nuts.

Relax - it's a watch. It's meant to be worn, and signs of wear are inevitable. The only alternative is to wrap it carefully in cotton wool and never wear it, which totally defeats the purpose of owning a watch. Over time that scratch will fade and be joined by a myriad of others. Wear them with pride!
