Santa Barbara. Speaking of lists, I’m on the list for a boat slip in SB.......it’s longer than a Daytona or BLNR.

already did it... moved to London.

no point in a hypothetical if you aren't going to actually do it

My grandmother is 93 years old and has lived on the same city block for 93 years in Montana which isn't the most interesting place to begin with. She and my grandfather built a house on the next lot over from her parents house when she got married. So that wasn't going to be me.

I know it’s not glitzy or glamourous but it would have to be St Helier, Jersey. Went there for a week in 2016. To this day I wish I had never left. Small enough to get around, near the water. Go for a walk every day morning and night. If only.....

I agree. I have made two big moves on my life, so far. I could not imagine living somewhere when I would rather be elsewhere. Life is short. Much of my family is the same way on my fathers side. Several of my cousins and myself have made this moves even to other countries somewhat on a whim. I think the wonderlust was breed into us by our beloved Granny who came to the US from Europe on a boat alone at age 16. And our Grandfather, her husband who did the same but to Canada.

I love Hong Kong - urban intensity, combined with very easy access to nature (hill walking right behind my house, and I live a 5 minute drive to work)

I don’t recall if I already posted in this thread.

But I honestly think Jersey. Though, I’d likely want to live on the beach. Or at a minimum in a beach town within walking distance to the beach.

I could live quite happily in that environment.

I live in the Finger Lakes region of NY.
Unfortunately I don’t live on the lake, but about 15 minutes away from Canandaigua Lake. All of the Lakes are truly spectacular, each having its own personality. They are also fairly expensive.
I retired this past February and, after spending most of the winter in Florida, I returned home to NY and took a part-time job on Canandaigua Lake working on the water for a boat club I belong to. This may be the greatest job of my life! I work 2-3 days a week for about 4 hours a shift. I drive boats around, maintain their equipment and keep their tanks filled.
I’m back in Naples Florida now and I’m considering looking into a job on one of the water taxis. Not bad.
Here’s a pic I took from one of the club boats on a very still summer evening.

South of France... except I don't speak French. Opportunity to learn!

I'm happy with Southern California though.

I wish I could find a place where there is no politics. Really... where each and everyone person can feel comfortable about being who they are regardless of beliefs and backgrounds. That to me, would be amazing and if there is a place that fits the bill, please let me know... because I feel like just packing up the family and moving to Canada.

I couldn't agree more. And the reality is none of this bullshit really matters.

So true, the consumption has gone way overboard and tension is just something I'd rather live without. I remember growing up, even in my 20s, just cruising and having any sort of conversations with any sort of people regardless of anything. This stuff has gotten so stupid that I honestly feel suffocated. And when I thought about it recently, where is there a place to go where all of this would go away, I could not honestly think of one place on planet earth.

Well, that looks just absolute.

Too funny I lived at 2000 PCH at corner of Goldenwest and PCH in HB when I was younger before moving to Redondo Beach.
