Neither are most of the people on this forum! Vintageland is a minefield these days. The crooks are cloning everything. No matter how much you think you know there’s always something you don’t know so you need to have the experts on the Vintage forum vette any piece before buying unless of course you’re one of the experts. This is what saddens me, the chicanery in vintage and seeing brand new watches fully stickered in grey dealer cases when all we can do is now try on exhibition pieces that you can’t have or order. OP get your frustration but you need to block all this out. More important things in life and other watch brands. Things are not normal in fact I would say we’re 10 standard deviations away from normal when 39K Nautilus are selling for 500K. But on the bright side everything reverts back to the mean at some point. It’s now a game of patience. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Valid reaction OP, it wasn’t mine but totally get your choice. Unfortunately Rolex and the market won’t care…

I can sympathize Greg. Life is larger than Rolex and many other hobbies can offer the same or more fun. Come back to Rolex later and take a break

It’s sounds like you are “over” watch forums and flexing on social media surrounding watches … so, just stop that aspect of watch collecting. Why stop your love for Rolex, watch collecting, and interacting with friends who share your same interest? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I never understood the need to become emotional simply to make a simple and relatively inconsequential decision.

There are other brands, so enjoy those, or buy an Apple Watch and be done with it all. Either way, not worth the stress.

Glad it's not drinking related.. Maybe a drink and relaxing wouldn't be a bad idea?

Lots of people piling on the OP, when it may be a bit of a overreaction post but let’s be real, nothing about this market is enjoyable. We have to put time & energy into making money to afford a watch. Now we have to put time & emotional energy into acquiring the watch. The chase has become more of the focus than being able to enjoy purchasing & enjoying the watch. Our club has become crowded with people not in it for the love of horology, but to make money.

Agree 100%, the confluence of events has sucked the enjoyment out of this hobby. There really should be a sub-forum for all market, investment, etc discussions. It is sad to see some discussing collections like a stock portfolio and real enthusiasts who now could care less about new releases because they can’t get them at retail and refuse to pay so called market prices (that are in fact not resulting from a fair free market, despite what many like to tell themselves).
