I believe in capitalism. I’ll choose where to allocate my limited dollars, which won’t be to that watch. Can’t hate on the business for trying to stay in business.

And to the Porsche reference by @Rolex2008, 911 owners should be thankful every time they see a Cayenne, right?

I asked a 4th grade grandchild if he would wear one to school. He said NFW

I've never really been a fan of the Day-Date, but I would definitely wear the white gold version with the puzzle dial.

Beautiful!

Love all the color and quirkiness of the design. Big fan of the DD model, and if given the chance to buy a puzzle dial at retail, I would immediately - and wear it often.

I don’t think one should look at it as whether they like it or not, but the reason for the watch. The proceeds from the sale of this watch goes to support Autism research. If the opportunity was to arise I would buy one just for that reason.

Link? The Rolex press release doesn't even contain the word "autism": https://newsroom.rolex.com/watches/n...es/day-date-36 Neither does the Hodinkee article: https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/ro...rds-and-emojis

Yeah, I think the charity aspect is very much unclear still. I haven’t seen any Rolex writing that states proceeds from the sales of these watches are going to any autism charity. However, the puzzle in the dial clearly looks like the autism charity logo, and it would be really odd if their isn’t any association with the charity. The similarity is hard to avoid and it was the first thing I thought of when I saw this watch for the first time.

I would have considered it if they made it in 40mm.

Embrace the 36, it’s the future…and also the past.

Meh… I have a 36mm watch, but not a Rolex. I think the 40 looks good on me and the 36 looks too small for DD specifically since I have tried both of the same reference back to back.

Does everyone hate the puzzle dial or are there any fans?

I think in the very near future your perspective will shift and you’ll see 36 more favorably.

Nothing wrong with a 40 but 36 is also all-class and works on everyone whether they know it or not.

Agreed. I bet a few years from now more people will be wearing a 36 then a 40. Big watch trend is dropping. Back to class, elegance and symmetry

I bet a few months from now, and the big watch trend dropped at least a couple years ago, imo

I disagree. When I think of “big watch” I think of 44mm + sized watches and then yes I think we’re going to see less of those but I think 40mm is essentially the new 36mm. A lot of ladies are actually wearing 36mm watches nowadays.

You’re right on your second point. Larger watches are more en vogue for women these days and smaller for men. That’s undoubtedly the trend. Don’t get me wrong though, I’m not saying to follow trends. I’m just saying the direction the wind is blowing.

Wear whatever puts a smile on your face. No rules other than to have fun.

We can agree to disagree. In the last year the vintage watch market has exploded. One thing the watches of this market all have in common is their smaller sizes.

I’ve personally outgrown the ‘wall clock on my wrist phase’ but specifically for metal bracelets and integrated ones. Aside from Cartier Tank’s watches with a leather strap look too small in smaller sizes where as metal bracelets look just right in smaller sizes

Also what I like about say 36mm vs 40mm is the balance of bracelet to dial where as the 40mm or a 41mm datejust the bezel looks disproportionately huge to its significantly smaller in width bracelet ruining the balance to my eye. Its like having a Gwagon on 18 inch wheels. Id even assume thats why Panerai watches arent hot for a while now as its wayy too large

I really wanted a Cartier Tank Louis on paper and then I tried it on. Nope! It looked stupid.
