As you said, you have the watch. I'm sure you'll get pleasure from wearing it, huge congratulations

Watch, Warranty card and box are all that I wanted. (I'm a keeper, not a flipper)

The rest is just BS.

Congrats! Looks great!

Also good to know the current AD included bits, or rather lack thereof.

Well if you have to take the picture with the date they can then see who sold the watch but seeing what day the watch was sold and to whom…if that sales associate gets caught flipping a stickered watch they can find the associate who is selling stickered rolexes again lol. Seems like a nice way to punish the actual flipper network

Overall it was a very pleasant experience.
I really like the large dial on the 40mm version.
The watch dial/hands are well proportioned and legibility is fantastic. The lume on the hands is excellent but the lume on the dial appears to only have approximately 50% the luminosity of the hands.

I was told that all factory stickers had to be removed as directed by Rolex.

I asked if I could have a bezel protector, unfortunately by direction of Rolex that is not permitted.

I asked if I could have the white hang tag, but Rolex has directed to no longer permit the customers to have the white hang tag.

I enquired as to whether I would be able to have the outer sleeve to keep the lid on the outer box secure but again Rolex has directed authorised dealers not to provide the outer sleeve to customers.

I had to produce photo identification which was photographed with the warranty card. I was concerned that this would be given to Rolex or some other third party. I was assured that the photograph would not be given to Rolex. Nevertheless, I felt that this was somewhat an invasion of privacy but I will just have to trust the AD on that one.

But on the plus side the watch is wearing great and I'm humbly grateful for being dained worthy to be a customer.

Its a little sad that Rolex seems to want to take away the little bits and bobs which were given without a second thought in days gone by, but such is the way of the world.
It is so sad to hear about these things. 45 years ago, this was all part of the new Rolex purchase experience and was definitely appreciated...

I like the new 40mm Explorer. Asked my dealer today to put me on the list for one. Very low key watch, but beautifully refined and finished. I know you’re happy with it. Enjoy!

Love the Exp I in the larger size. It’s such a perfect classy and sporty piece.

Went through similar exercises when buying from my AD, no biggie.

Congratulations, Steve!

Watch looks great. It's crazy to think it has taken so long for you to get this from an AD. I'm glad you finally got the call! Enjoy and weat it in good health.

Congrats on the watch, love that reference. I was told the same about the stickers and bezel protector, and the hang tags...but in the end i guess they forgot and left the tags in my box.

Bezel protectors for sale for £20 on 'fleabay'.
One seller, seems to have an unlimited supply of Rolex items.

Now, I wonder where he gets them from? I can't imagine, can you?

.
Adjust your self effacing attitude. Be grateful you’re able to afford a nice bauble; but show no humility for your ability to participate in a commercial transaction that’s been hyped beyond reason and exploited by the dealer network, and enjoy one of the best models in the Rolex lineup. Cheers!

Congratulations on your new watch!

A short comment on removal of items (from a former AD): Yes, Rolex (at least here in the USA) directs it's ADs to remove these items, but for a different stated reason. It's mostly about "Presentation".

The boxes are literally called "Presentation Boxes" by Rolex, and they look more elegant without the white sleeve.

The plastic bezel protector also doesn't look particularly high-end, and we once (before requirement to remove came out) sold a domed bezel watch and left it on and recipient came in and said "this bezel is scratched" and we took the protector off and they said "oh".

The stickers have to be removed as it may be hard for customers to do, and it just looks nicer without them. There are quite a few and I've seen people wear watches with the stickers still on for months not realizing they should come off and after a bit they look kinda gross.

All of these (except sticker removal), we were happy to let the customer have if they requested to keep the items. The outer sleeve and bezel protector got thrown away, and the white hang tag we taped to our copy of the sales receipt (not that we'd ever need it for anything in the future with everything computerized).

I think of it as "Dealer Prep" like when buying a car. They remove the paper floor mats, the plastic film from the radio/GPS screen, etc, getting it ready for use.

Congratulations on the new Explorer. It's a great watch which is one I've never owned. I wonder whether the dictates are from Rolex or from the AD? If they were from Rolex, I'd assume it would be universal or easily overlooked by the AD. Seriously, is Rolex going to audit ADs trash? Regardless of the questions, I hope you have many years of enjoyment from your new Explorer.

Steve, great watch.

I feel your frustration with the process.

Especially the ID. There has never been an establishment that has taken my id or email or phone that has admitted to selling it yet each and every day I receive unwanted communications from entities I have never done business with. Most times those communications come immediately after doing business.

Rolex makes a great watch but Rolex is not interested in customer opinions (and I would add customer satisfaction), only sales.

Ps it is seriously disturbing you were not given the Daytona of your choice straight out of the safe when you first walked in. You have earned it!
