Didn't realize then but my Rolex journey was complete by 2006 after receiving my 16710. It was my 2nd Rolex, my 1st being a 1986 DateJust.

The 16710 traveled the world with me, helped navigate world time zones while working w/ coworkers around the globe, and really made me appreciate all the functions a GMT has to offer. Not to mention the multiple bezel & bracelet atheistic options available w/ the most versatile Rolex ever produced. And I took full advantage.

Alas, in 2010 Tudor decides to reinvigorate it's brand by releasing the Tudor Heritage Chronograph as well as continued successful releases like the Black Bay & Pelagos in subsequent years that seem to tick more boxes for me providing amazing performance w/ modern proportions, at very competitive pricing, that you can actually purchase without playing AD games.

Still love & enjoy my 16170 but Tudor has really hit my sweet spot.

I have my favorite 5-digit and my favorite 6-digit references. There are 2 other modern Rolexes watches that I'd like to try but not enough to invest the time and money to acquire them so I'm likely out of the Rolex game.

There's a couple watches from other brands that I might get but I've also come to the realization that I just don't need that many watches and rather spend the money elsewhere (house, travel, kids, etc).

Besides my wife’s watches…
I think I’m done. Went from Rolex to Rolex, all different models.
Seems I settled on the Sub date 41 and YG Day Date 40mm.
I really don’t need any more than this and it’s been over a year and I don’t have any intentions of selling or adding at this point.

I quit last week then got a call the following day so I guess never… I was sober for a couple of hours..

In all seriousness this never quits if you like horology and enjoy these types of communities and conversations. OP you’re stuck like the hotel California you ain’t checking out.

I just bought a patek yesterday. I think I’m done with Rolex for a bit.

I’m done after I flipped my second and last 32xx movement watch. Rolex’s inability to address the slow 32xx movement issue killed it for me after 25+ years of owning Rolex watches. I worked through 14 different Rolex watches [never owning more than two at a time.] I used Rolex’s warranty period (5x) for 32xx movements; unprecedented with any other Rolex watches never owning that I owned.

Since 2021, I’ve landed (and thus keeping) my 116600 SeaDweller and my 214270 Mark II (39mm) Explorer I. Both watches have 3135 movements that run +0/+1/day without issues.

Staying with 31xx movements until Rolex chucks 32xx movements and would not consider any new Rolex movement until 2-3 years after introduction to let it cook in the real world.

My next watch will probably be the Tudor FXD GMT, although at 42mm it’s a tad big (aargh).
