I think the north flag is great, not tried it on though. I'd rather have the explorer..

Sorry to hear of your wife's passing, I only got to about page 22 in the event it was mentioned earlier in the thread.

Hey, later in the novels Dirk heads up NUMA and is the field much less

Very cool stories and history. The allure that brought me to Rolex was their expedition/tool watch history and I think the 5 digit references (which are my favorite) are the last of the references to truly embody this spirit.

Wow, it's funny that those watches (explorer II) never did anything to me and now it makes me almost want to buy them. (But I guess that's what marketing is also doing to you, only this is the real deal)

I also looked into the new OP white dial, but 39mm as the 36 I didnt like. Never for a minute i thought about the 34mm but seeing them pop up here at the forum they don't look small at all.

I think you’ve actually brought to light a few good points about watches like not worrying about the small stuff. You buy a watch that you like and that works for you. I think it’s too easy these days to obsess over the smallest of details. You see so many posts about minute little details. So the new philosophy I’ve taken from this is just buy whatever calls me.

Anyways I must get ready now. My mate is taking me on my very first sailing trip out in the Arabian gulf so that’s my little bit of exploration for the week.

Hi Steve,

I work in the outdoors too. Spend most of the winter leading clients on ski touring trips in the Scottish Highlands. Best part of my job by far. My Explorer never leaves my wrist. Massive respect to you for all the amazing expeds that you have been on/lead.
