People have to have hard evidence before they convict. This is extremely important. However this doesn't mean you should ignore the obvious. I can't remember when I personally decided Lance probably cheated but it's been a number of years now. Where there's smoke there's fire. When the signs are there, then there's a good chance something's going on. Unfortunately even I got caught up ignoring the odvious initially with baseball. I really got excited and started watching baseball more again when Mark McGuire and Sammy Sosa where hitting all of those unbelieveable home runs. I didn't pause to think and wonder why they were hitting all of those unbelieveable home runs. I'm a bit more cynicall now because of people like Pete Rose, Bonds, Clemmons, McGuire, Sosa, Armstrong and many many others and I don't watch any sports like I used to any more. I no longer follow any individual or team like I did before. I kind of miss those days. But I feel I'm also more grown up because of it as well. I'm sure Rose, and Bonds and others also had control over their inner circle to one degree or another, however I think Armstrong was able to take it to a different level. For me this isn't so much about him as it is about the others that may follow. Sure would be great if we didn't have anymore that follow. I've found the best way to help ensure this is to make sure there are regulations and control measures in place that are actively being enforced. By the way this would include golf too. I've long ago stopped thinking what Congress did with baseball was a waste of time. Somebody had to do something.

I just feel bad for all the people in the media who went to bat for him CONSTANTLY. There was one reporter today who wrote a piece on how he had defended Armstrong every time, and now he feels like an idiot.

Lance says now he didn't pressure others to cheat.
Surprise: I don't, and I just can't believe him.

Interview started very blunt with yes and no questions, I like that. Very interesting interview.

Oh and a report from his last Tour de Frances' 2009 and 2010 about his blood was incorrect.
Oh yeah, I believe this too.

This is more self-serving tripe.
If he was truly sorry, he would apologize to those he attacked for telling the truth. This man has no honor and deserves no respect.

He says he can't even remember which people he has sued, because he sued so many.

I'm watching the interview now. What I know after an hour is that Lance Armstrong is a pathological liar and bully who seems able to recount his crimes and abuses of others without remorse or even shame.

I know he wasn't.
I don't think we do. But why don't we expect people with this much influence to be better role models?

Armstrong was and is a master manipulator.
This interview with Operah is just another example in a long line.... In a way I feel this is another act of deception, he's passively trying to foist his spin on the whole world. His statement about having one less ball, so in a way was entitled to use testosterone and blood doping was pathetic.

still, in a sport that was absolutely overrun with drugs and cheaters, he was clearly the best of that time. the number one doper among all the dopers, err, riders.
anyway, i have no idea if he's now telling the truth, but, if he is, then, good for him to finally come clean. (paging barry bonds & roger clemens.....) |

If I'm not mistaken, both Bonds and Clemens would face prison time for lying to Congress if they were to admit to steroid use.
If that's true, then I wouldn't expect a confession. Whatever the truth is with regard to Armstrong, I thought he was weak to accept an interview with Oprah. A man would have just called a press conference and said what he needed to say.

i think he is a huge disappointment. not because he took cheated, you can't compete in that sport if you are not cheating.
my problem is with what a bitter man he is and how he had the audacity to actually sue the people that called him out. and how he felt it was OK to ruin the lives of others in order to continue his charade.

In a way by being who he is and using what used to work to his advantage it is now working against him. I mean it appears that he wanted to compete again so bad that now he is doing himself so much more harm. By coming out and trying to control the narrative, now nobody seems to believe him and it doesn't appear that he's still going to be able to compete.
It appears that he has inflicted so much more damage to himself at this point. By all reports he's most certainly going to have to re-pay quite a bit of his fortune to those who it truly belongs too. It also appears that a resuilt of his admissions even though incomplete that more people actually find him to be reprehensible. I don't know how low he's going to go, but it does appear for now that he is going to hit a low no one ever expected him to experience. And he actually volunteered to do it to himself this time, when he could have taken another route and just stayed quite.

If they don't almost every citizen in the United Staes should write their congressman or woman. They certainly can use whatever money they can get. Oh yes, and hopefully although doubtfull they should go for that full triple the originall sum amount.
I'll bet there are people writing their congressmen or women already. In fact I expect our congressmen or women to say something fairly soon.

They actually reported on CNN yesterday before the admission that he or his lawyers where discussing a settlement with them yesterday before the Oprah show last night.

I wonder how much Thomas Weisel (team owner) was involved? He would have been the one that benefited the most.
