Don't still get the hype.... it's just s push on ceremic insert! What else is the difference ? Can't you get this push on ceremic insert on the older Daytona aswell, and it will look exactly the same?

Personally, the Daytona - in any configuration - has never much appealed to me. While I love Rolex watches, I would never buy one just because it is a Rolex. IMO the best Chronograph is the Zenith El Primero 38mm. I certainly don't dislike the Daytona, I can just never understand all the hype.

I recall wanting a white gold Daytona around 2006 or 2007, never carried through. Saw a picture of the 116500 White dial after the previous Basel World and informed my AD to put me list. Received mine just before last Christmas. Still not bored.

Hey, Brad Pitt got bored of Jennifer Aniston so I guess anything is possible. But to even suggest getting bored of the Daytonna C is to be as crazy as Brad.

I was lucky enough to purchase a black dial, liked it overall but found that I was preferring to wear my BLNR. For that reason, the watch was quickly sold.

Indeed, but it'd be like trading a Rolex for a Citizen. I'd stick with Rolex. :p

Same situation for me, I bought the Daytona C - black dial and after 2 weeks it was already sitting in the box as I preferred the look of my BLNR.

Just shows how tastes differ. In the unlikely event that I could choose either one (), I'd go with Angelina every time, purely from an aesthetic perspective.

Of course. It is all tongue in cheek kind of stuff.

But clearly one has better taste in watches and it's worth considering.

I think the black dial is gorgeous but so is the BLNR. That is why I held out for white because every other watch in my collection has a black dial and though they are all different they aren't that much so. The white C though is a different beast altogether....especially in person.

Never been a huge fan of chronograph watches, the dials are just too busy. I also wouldn't wear a watch without a date function, so the Daytona has never featured on my radar.
Having said that, I can see why the ceramic bezel on the new release is desirable, but certainly NOT for the prices they are commanding right now. It's madness.
If I were in the market for a Daytona, I'd buy an older reference with a SS bezel and be done with it.

I'm not bored of it because I think the white dial is the best looking Rolex ever. If I could ever afford one I'd snatch it up in a heartbeat. The pics below are not my own, but just to remind everyone of the beauty...

I think it looks nice in pictures but I've always thought the Daytona was too small for me. I think if they bumped it to a 41-42mm I would be more interested.

I agree totally, in principle.

In practice, I chose a Zenith El Primero over the Daytona - more iconic, cheaper, and it has the date function thrown in as will. So much win.

The new Daytona's arrows on the bezel point in the wrong direction as well. How did Rolex let that glaring design flaw through? The previous steel bezel is superior, functionally.

I once ordered the Rubber B for my Daytona.

Rubber B is excellent but the only reason why i bought for my Daytona is thinking the strap width size of the Lug be the same right to the buckle.

My personal opinion, the existing size width from the lug get smaller/slimmer as it reach the buckle and it feels and look feminine. It goes with the original steel strap.

Anyone here knows if there's any chances whereby Rolex could produce the exact width size from lug to the buckle?

I have the new Daytona with a white dial. Beautiful watch and wears well but there several things I don't like about it. I really do prefer a date on a watch, the lume stinks on the Daytona, I really have no need for a chronograph and it would be hard for me to read the dial (without reading glasses) if I did use it.
I know, I know, you're saying well why did you buy it then. I got on a waiting list and was able to get one from my AD. It is a very good investment. I'm just not sure if I can resist the urge to sell it and make a nice profit.
I feel very confident that there will be a 10-20% price hike this year. Currently, the shelves at US ADs are getting bare. I'll wait to see if this price rise happens and then decide if I want to sell. To be honest, I'd rather wear my DJ41 of a Rolex GMT as my daily watch.

Thankfully Chronograph watches do zero for me. I just saw one in the window of a grey dealer. Can’t see what the fuss is about

I'm not... My only Daytona and I am loving it. Other watches are not happy as they are getting less wrist time.

I just bought my black dial SS Daytona 116520 a couple of weeks ago, looked at the new one with the ceramic dial, and pics always make watches look much bigger than they are in real life and how they wear/appear on the wrist, and I just found, my opinion only of course, that the ceramic black bezel distracted from the classic SS Daytona look, so went for the classic SS Daytona.

Having said that, I spent more time pondering going the Daytona Z route versus the newer route...as always, YMMV with these things, either way, beautiful watch and the one I've always chased....

Interesting thread. I like the metal bezel more. The Ceramic bezel looks odd to be, it is a bit too wide for my taste. The bezel on the speedy is of good proportion!! I guess it is just a trend that every manufacturer is following right now.

I tried the PM Daytonas with Ceramic bezel. It is too out there, and does give it a much more sportier look. But takes the balance away I think.
