I have a drawer full of quartz watches ... I've worn and enjoyed a number of them (I received most as gifts). Wenger, Poljot, and Seiko mostly. My son wears a Shinola Runwell Chronograph and loves it. (That thing can take a beating, too - he's in military school and wears it day and night.)

I would only consider wearing a 9f from gs. And I think a quartz watch from credor is perfect for ladies.

I'm aware of really good quartz movements but I appreciate cheap ones too. Less complex moving parts means you can smack and clunk them around without affecting accuracy. My work watches are not pretty and I wouldn't put any Rolex through that, I knooow they're tool watches but I do consider them quite precious and would be a hindrance to me.

Alternate my DayDate Quartz, Perpetual DayDate, Oysterquartz Datejust, Submariner YG, and Juvenia Premiere.
The quartz Rolex watches seem to garner the most wrist time of all combined.

Common sense dictates, to me , yes...

If i'm doing something messy (painting) or that poses a clear damage risk to my watch, like wrenching on an engine in a tight workspace, and need to wear a watch it will be my G-Shock.

I know there is a faction here which espouses "wear your Rolex for everything, it can take anything you can" but I'm not buying that.

It would be, in my opinion, ten kinds of stupid to wear a nice watch while doing something you know could put it in harm's way and subsequently damage it.

My two Rolex watches are in good shape and run well, as long as I have them will use "common sense" in doing what I can to keep them that way...

I guess it depends on whether one sees an expensive watch as jewelry or a tool. To me, it's like buying a high end pair of hiking boots, an expensive knife, a Land Rover, etc., and then not using them for fear of damage. I always wear my Sub, and, if it breaks, I'll get it fixed.

I haven't worn a quartz watch in at least ten years; nothing against quartz, I just happen to appreciate the craftsmanship (and romance) of a mechanical movement so much more. However, a friend of mine recently got himself an Accutron Snorkel...that is a SHARP watch! I'm considering it myself

I sometimes wear the Apple Watch (aluminium) especially when doing some fitness for the fact that's a very light watch and useful for fitness. But they are very rare occasions. Sometimes, when I do fitness, i just remove my rolex

I know I am the exception in saying this, but: Quartz all the way. Just traded a 16013 for a Piaget quartz actually...

I have several, but never wear them any more. Don't buy them any more either. The batteries became a PITA. My evolved position is that quartz has no soul.

Yup! Omega Aqua Terra. Throw it on a leather strap for more formal settings or a nato strap when I want something under the radar.

What beauties! Wish I had an OQ. How are maintenance costs compared with an automatic?

No I don't. The last time I wore a quartz watch was at 2006. And then I gave it to my daughter. It was a Swiss Candino.

I have a few G-shocks that I rarely wear and the Apple Watch.

Honestly, Apple Watch is my daily watch these days so I don't get to wear automatic watches that much anymore.

I have a white G-Shock solar that I rarely wear, mostly when I'm by the sea and the waves are 2 meters high or more :-)
