I always tip well if the food is good and I know I will be back. All my favorite restaurants love me

If the food is OK and the service ranges from bad to OK, I tip the Canadian standard of double the tax. I've never lowballed people, or tipped 0.

I do know I have gotten better service because of my watch, though. It's a fact of life... not everybody will get the manager / chef coming out to them, giving them their card etc.

But you people don't buy a Rolex to not get noticed so...

Yes, you can't help but attract attention. It's like the people who drive their bright green Lamborghini Murcielago's down the main tourist street and then complain about the traffic and people staring.

[QUOTE=James T;783015]of course the ins knows where to get illegal immigrants.. they just don't go after them because if they deport all the illegal immigrants then nobody will do the dirty work...err! are you willing to do it?! [/QUO
What do you mean dirtywork? If you mean, seliing drugs, prostitution etc... no I won't consider doing it! But if you mean something that has to do with cleanliness. I have no problem doing it! Wouldn't you?

I think James was referring to things like custodial services, house keeping, etc., not narcotics.

Oh boy this is one of THOSE threads Gotta chime in on it even though it's way down the list. I've been in the restaurant business almost 25 years. My father is one of the owners of a VERY well known bar in the area. Even though I have the MBA and work for a large corporation, I STILL bartend on Saturdays. The $$$ is just too damn good and it allows me to pay for my Rolexes and save big $$$ simultaneously. I will say I treat everyone the same with the upmost respect. More often than not I have been well compensated for doing so. Sure there are lousy tippers out there but they come in all shapes and sizes. Will a ROlex on the wrist get my attention? Probably not.

I tend to wear one of mine when in a restaurant and don't really notice any difference in treatment. The younger servers tend to get a sense of a "business like" demeanor and respect the fact not to get too personal. That kind of service - seen not heard gets the most rewards.

No offense guys but what are your thoughts??

Wow, slow day in Florida at the malt shop brother?

I think about things like that sometimes. With my back (arthritis and I'm only 41) I could never do it. There are the people doing the hardest work getting paid the least while we (I) sit in A/C office earning more than them.
Yea yeah we all work hard - they work harder.

This thread has run it's course.

Seems like some guys can't keep civil. If anyone starts anything further, then I'll finish it for them and it may well result in permanent bannings.

Again you are reminded of the forum rules which require you to be courteous towards other forum users and that political and racial discussions, jibes or comments are not permitted.
