Rolex makes me smile. Even after 30 years, sometimes I look at my watch and smile. Guess I am a die hard WIS, Watch Nerd, Watch Geek--whatever term.

In my 20's I would be lying if I said my first Rolex did not give me a sense of accomplishment. Was there some pride associated with that accomplishment. Yes, I started a business young and saved up to buy my first Sub. Did it do anything for my self confidence, I think that was already in place, but there definitely was some gratification.

Zero in regards to confidence. However, my watches remind me of why I have spent almost all my life working my a$$ off

OP, I feel bad for you because I think your word choice caused a stir on the forum.

I don't think that you intended to say that you get your self-confidence from your watch... Unfortunately some members read it that way, but based on your word choice, it's hard to blame them.

My reply to your post:

Yes there are good days as there are bad days. Like you on a tough day, I can look at my watch and smile.

As other members have posted, looking at my watch does remind me of work and sacrifice, but I wouldn't say that my watch boosts my self-confidence, but I don't think that was your intention either.

Have a good one!

Thanks, well said! Don’t feel bad, it doesn’t bother or offend me a bit. I did however use poor choice of words tho. I didn’t mean literally change my self confidence. But that’s how it was worded this morning after leaving the gym and Two cups of coffee. Lol. After getting dressed I looked down at my watch had a big grin on my face and was ready to take on the day. Now I just got home after a great day of work and get to spend the rest of my evening with my beautiful family! Cheers everyone.

Do whatever makes you happy. Sometimes people are just not kind but most mean well. Enjoy your success however you define it.

There isn't much that helps my self-confidence (and attitude) more than a good workout. That might be a large part of what you were feeling.

I think you have been bitten by semantics. A lot of responders took your post as saying your watch is the source of your self-confidence.

Sometimes a look at a nice thing that you have earned is a reminder of what you have accomplished, and that can give you a little boost.

If you read "Every Rolex Tells a Story" on the Rolex web site, many (if not all) focus on the feelings the owners associate with their watches. "When I won this.... When I accomplished that..."

So... while you might have worded your original post more effectively, I don't think you're off base by enjoying a little satisfaction when you glance at your wrist.

I did hear of a woman in sales once who said when she got a Rolex she was treated with much more respect.

Wow people are critical here. Sure, a watch is just a watch, but to many, a Rolex is a symbol of success and accomplishment. Some can argue no more horological accomplishment in a Rolex then other much more inexpensive alternatives.

To the OP, I think that feeling fades over time... not sure how long you’ve been a Rolex owner but nowadays I get as much enjoyment out of my Tudor and Hamilton.

This right there.

I know when I bought my first luxury watch it was an accomplishment for numerous reasons. The biggest was I wanted to pass something down to my son when he was born and I was lucky enough to be able to afford it.

Now 8 years later I appreciate all my watches the same and each one has a purpose to wear them.

It’s great. I usually walk in restaurants and immediately tell the server I am a Rolex owner and she has to seat me and bypass the wait. I roll up my sleeve and stick my wrist in her face to show her I am not bluffing. Same thing when I go to a bar. I walk up and immediately announce to everyone that yes I am indeed a Rolex owner and it helps my self confidence with the ladies. Upon hearing this news I usually have 3 or 4 hanging off me. They buy me drinks instead of the other way around. People move out of my way and bow to me as I walk by because of the watch on my wrist. Everyone is in awe. Fathers offer the daughters to me for marriage. Mothers want me to father their grandchildren. Wearing a Rolex gives me the confidence of 10 men.

Sorry for the overwhelmingly adverse responses to your question OP! I think I understand what you mean and like others said may just be a choice of word issue.

Like the quotes below, it's not really a boost in self-confidence that I feel when I put mine on in the morning... but I'm definitely excited to put it on and look forward to it as part of my morning routine. And when I look down it puts a smile on my face and maybe a feeling of yes, I have been able accopmlish some great things professionally and personally.

I think it does add to my mojo. For example, if I went into an important interview and discovered I left it at home, I would feel a little funny. Not less capable, but I think it helps represent what I stand for. Quality, value, time-tested, resilient, accurate, durable, rock solid, value beyond cost.
