I'm not sure that I understand the OP's question.

Buyer's remorse? Sure. Most of us have BTDT. How you deal with it is a personal choice.

Me, I sell it and move on.

The DJ you purchased is a classic and looks great. Start wearing it daily and enjoy it. If you want an OP then get with a few AD's and show interest and wait to buy one. In the mean time just enjoy the DJ. When your turn on the OP comes around you can have a nice two watch collection. Do not over think it and enjoy what you have.

I have learned in my limited experience with watches that ignorance is bliss. I got interested in watches when I excelled in my career and thought an $8800 aqua terra was expensive. Then I learned that rolexes don’t lose value so I got the OP 41. I always used to be a sports watch guy and had been wearing a 44mm Tissot T-Race for the last 6 years and before that grew up wearing fossil watches. Then I learned that the Submariner went up in value and was a sports watch so I chased that and got it then I saw people flaunting their land, sea and air collections so I have started fervently searching for a GMT although the AD that sold me the OP promised to have me my Root Beer before the end of the year.

Had I not learned about these things about Rolex I probably would’ve been totally fine getting whatever watch and been fine with it. I think everyone is different some of us chase what we want some of us are influenced and some of us have fomo it’s normal. My $0.02 is if you have buyers remorse that you wanted an OP and have not worn the DJ you will also most likely have sellers remorse when you get rid of it. If you don’t need the money I suggest the that you keep the DJ ref you have because it really is a popular one and you may grow to like it and if you don’t you can always still sell it down the line it’s not like it won’t sell.

Hey, you like what you like but if it were me, DJ all the way. I wouldn’t give the OP41 a second thought.
If you want bright colored dials, get a Michele at the mall

Depends what else you have in your collection but if this was meant to be an everyday sort of partner watch, I think you made 100000000% the correct decision. If on the other hand you have a bunch of other watches 10+ then the OP would have been an interesting addition.

It's always best to stick with the initial plan and not settle for something else but granted it's a done deal now:
Give it some wrist time. See if you can bond with it.
I understand this is something completely different from the OP but this is a watch you can't go wrong with.
And you can always add the OP down the road.

Have had buyers remorse with lots of watches but never a Rolex. I have had sellers remorse every time I've let a Rolex go! Recently made a promise to myself to not sell any Rolex I end up with.

OP
No one on the forum can tell you what to do or if you made a good decision, only you can do that.
I would wear the watch, if it does not put a smile on your face, then sell it, it’s no big deal and then try to buy what you want.
Good luck.

In a decade the DJ will still be timeless. The op egg yolk yellow, red, poofter blue etc will be niche. You made a wise choice OP.

I agree; not every watch is for everyone; I like what many others don't and vice versa. Much better to wear what you love!!!

It’s beautiful, wear it in good health and if you want to unload it and get the OP let me know, I’d buy it in a sec

I like Panerais although most are a bit large for me; I've looked at some earlier models at 40mm which I really like.

As was indicated above, you'd have no difficulty selling the blue DJ if you wanted although sourcing a 41mm OP isn't really easy (just as with the blue DJ that you have). Your watch is beautiful and I'd almost make a trade with you but I've owned a blue one before and I'm trying not to retrace my steps!!! I hope your Sunday was good and that you have a great week coming up!!!

Buy the watch you want, if that means a wait then so be it, wait.

You have bought a real beauty in the DJ, as many have said a timeless classic that looks great on your wrist.

But we are not you and if the DJ doesn't sing to you then regrettably you have bought the wrong watch.

Go back and chat with the AD and see if they can help you out, if not you will have to sell it and wait for the OP that you really want.

Maybe you should look for a DJ with smooth bezel. I did not really care for the fluted bezel in the 41mm DJ (not that the AD had any to sell anyways). Something about the width of the 41mm flutes makes it less appealing to me than the smooth bezel. Purchased a white DJ smooth bezel and it feels perfect.

Seems to me you want a less formal watch is all. Get what you want... sell what you do want.

A DJ is overhyped ? I guess Airkings and Cellinis are the only viable underhyped options at this point.

That looks great on you.

Obviously it’s personal style, but I’m a woman and with my skin tone and wardrobe, as much as a pink, coral red, bright blue etc dial looks fun, I don’t think any of the “hot” dial watches would go well with my clothes and wouldn’t last the test of time, for me.

There is a reason fashion watches exist. It’s not meant to be derisive. Some clothes I buy because they will be classics, and I’m willing to spend more because they will be around in my closet for a while. Other clothes are just trendier and more “fun,” with a shorter “shelf life,” but I’m not going to spend a ton of money on those clothes. Unless the yellow or red colors are absolutely your favorite colors (as they may be), I would find a fashion watch with the dial color you like. See if that scratches your itch.

Some people have a lot of $$ for multiple watches depending on wardrobe color and/or would sell one of the hot-dialed watches when they tire of it. Again, nothing against those who are, but I’m not in that category.

Thank you for the insight, Red happens to be my favorite color. I will give it couple weeks and wear it more, will see where it goes.

I’m going to go with the many. Don’t fall for the hype. Op41 fun pieces at retail. Your dj is beautiful. Just because it has a jubilee and fluted doesn’t mean it can’t be a causal fun piece. I wear my 126334 diamond dial with tshirt and shorts and I could care less what anyone thinks.

Go enjoy your new watch.
