There is no 2 watch per customer rule. That doesn’t exist. The AD simply doesn’t trust your friends intentions anymore. Why should they, he’s buying the same watches multiple times. Also, when you “give watches to friends” they sell them.

Afraid I can't share my shit AD experiences because I haven't had any. They've all been good.

I applaud the boycott. Anybody so obviously offended would be a fool to throw more money in that direction. But I would recommend trying a few more ADs. "Rolex policy" (whatever it is and assuming it actually exists) can vary quite a bit depending on which AD is quoting it. I expect it also varies by customer for a given AD. Nevertheless, one less person queuing may not be much but it's a start for those of who will remain.

Congratulations on that Omega. Not a favourite of mine but impressive none the less. You like it, and that's all that matters. I wish you big fun with it and your future collecting.

I don't see this as Rolex's fault. They, along with some other manufacturers like Patek and AP, can't keep up with the overwhelming demand for sports watches since the demand for such pieces ballooned over the past couple of years. It is not easy ramping up production with specialised machine, human resources and site limitations, at will. Even if Rolex manages to increase production by 20%, it will still not be enough to meet the crazy demand. It is really up to their AD how they allocate watches to their customers.

What companies are ruling what people? Cite your sources. In what way are we puppets? Cite your examples. In what days did people have the power over these mysterious companies and if Rolex is one of them why did we not use our power to get watches for free?

Do you read on this forum or just initiate boycotts? The vast majority of posts on this forum for a few years running have been about the lack of availability and expressing anger at flippers who buy just to sell. Your friend by your own description is such a person. In the five or so years I’ve been on this forum your friend’s story is the only one I can recall where someone was cut off by a dealer for excessive purchasing. This is called holding the exception up as the rule.

I feel no outrage at your friend’s story, I feel relief. I see the behavior of the AD specifically and Rolex generally as beneficial to normal enthusiasts to whom a Rolex purchase is a special occasion. Your friend is feeding the secondary market with his frequent purchases. Rolex, to whatever extent they can, is trying to limit this behavior. I support them for that. It doesn’t make me less loyal to the brand, if anything it makes me more loyal.

Rolex isn’t exerting any power over me, if they truly had power over anyone they would use it to charge more for their watches. I am not a puppet of Rolex, I buy when I can and when I’m inspired to. And when I am inspired to I have a mutually respectful relationship with my AD and they are very helpful when I make a request.

Your generalizations are meaningless and unsupportable. I have no sympathy for your friend or your cause. In no other business can we demand the product we want whenever we want it. Have you tried buying a car during the pandemic? Luxury goods are not a human right. There is no controversy here, simply one entitled bad faith actor whose luck ran out.

But just to play devil's advocate here, unless we have seen their financial statements how can we really say this? Every year when I look up charities to donate to on CharityNavigator and similar sites I'm always a little tripped up browsing the financials and seeing their C-class exec making $200k, $300k, etc. But they are fully legal non-profits. Doesn't mean they don't pay their staff (and quite well) or have overhead such as marketing and research. Just means they aren't paying out profit to shareholders and what not. So do we know for sure that Rolex actually spends "profit" on things other than re-investing in the business and the foundation?
