I also have both, and the Sub/SD clasp is completely different from that of the DSSD--I think the DSSD Glidelock is far superior in design, satisfaction of use, and practicality (can be used without taking off the watch). Rolex should have given them different names.

Have any of you seen in the flesh a SD43? Same Glidelock as the DSSD?

I haven't seen a SD43 yet, but someone on TRF who has one says it's the same design as the one on the Sub and SD40, but simply wider.

Would probably have been costlier to create another clasp for the SD43 of the same design as that on the DSSD--it's a bit more complicated than that of the Sub/SD40.

No it's not.
The SD43 is the same as the Sub.

I would suggest that Rolex are reserving the DSSD clasp exclusively for the DSSD.
It is after all their flagship diver and to start moving the exclusive elements of the design on to other models would dilute it's status over time which wouldn't be a good thing.

I feel the same way, I have both DSSD's ( the black and also the blue Deepsea) they are both my daily watches, I switch between them and nothing compares with them side by side in person. They feel perfect ever since I changed the bracelet to a non-tapered oyster and also switch between my Rubberb bands. Side by side in person with the new SD43, it has more presence on the wrist. It is an awesome watch when it fits right!!!!!

Just sharing some thoughts. New SD came out.. should be in a year to two a new SDDS to pop out. Just presume Rolex will leave some time for ardent fans to get first SD43. Just curious, what is the opinion around, would D Blue disappear as new model comes in or it will remain in the line of SDDS?

By the way i bought mine back in 2008. So it's ten years old now. No any kind of problems, first servicing done less than an year ago. Kept on running in the same manner all these years - 1 sec lost per 24h. Amazing.

I'm wondering the same. For my opinion; the Deepsea (blue or black) is outstanding and cannot be compare with anything.
The engineering and looks is just fabulous
