Question for those of you with the new DD40. How does it wear, especially compared to the DJ41? As far as I know the diameter is smaller (38.x mm or thereabouts?)

I really want the RG, but I only briefly tried one on at the dealer and I'm worried about making such a big purchase and having it feel too small on my 8" wrist.

my wrist is 7.5 inches and it fits perfect - Id say buy it with confidence it truly is an all around great watch.

Although I dont have your wrist size, I think you will find that it is a very versatile watch. The only downside is the lack of adjustability. I had to purchase two 1.25 links to get the perfect fit and they don't run cheap. In regards to the DJ41, they are very similar IMO although I have not tried them on side by side, only at different times. Good luck!

Do you have a 7.5 inch wrist and you do not need extra link?

In my case I have a 7.5 inch wrist and with the standard links is very very tight, I had to purchase an extra link. Now it is a bit loose but allowing the wrist to expand without getting too tight.

12 pages this year as opposed to 39 pages between the beginning of 2011 and the beginning of 2019 (average of about five pages per year). I consider this an uptick likely due to the stainless drought.

Good analysis Lee, I did not look at it this way.
Wishing you a nice weekend

Thanks! Yeah I'm officially old with 2 boys now and felt the time was right to dive into PM, I'm all stainless prior to this. This one is a keeper that they will remember and eventually one day inherit, wonder which one will earn it!

Am still looking to purchase a celebratory watch for my self. I’ve narrowed it down to a yellow gold day date 40, PP Calatrava in yellow gold or an Omega Globemaster in Sedna Gold. Top choice is the DD40 but can’t get over the potential impracticality of wearing it everyday. Any opinions on wearing a yellow gold day date 40 as an everyday watch in the office and then social environment?

I have the same size, if not slightly bigger wrists. Did it put you off buying the watch knowing you had to purchase an additional link from Rolex just to make it fit? Somehow, that just doesn’t sit right with me.

Unless you are in an environment where people are likely to mug you I'd say it's not an issue wearing the DD40 to work. No issue for a social environment unless you're hanging out on street corners. If the 40 is too flashy for you then consider a 36.

I knew I had to purchase the link as I tried the watch several times before on different ADs. While the price of the extra link is high (850$), abusive I might say, it was not enough reason to not purchase the watch.
I understand the design of the hidden clasp that we love has the drawback of the lack of fine adjusting, but for someone picky with the fitting of the watch can be a big issue amplified because the weight of the watch.

Congratulations for your celebration! I also purchase watches coinciding with events. I use to say that I do not collect watches, I collect the memories of the events that gave me an excuse to get a watch.
I use DD40 as my daily watch, in my case in WG, for my specific situation I can not think of wearing that big piece of colored gold as my daily watch.
I live in the tropic and I wear short sleeve most of the time, apart of the stereotypes associated with a gold watch and while this country is very safe, I would not feel comfortable knowing that people can see that kind of watch from the other side of the street. If I would live in a different place wearing long sleeve I think that I would prefer WG as my daily anyway.
Regarding Calatrava, I have a YG 5196. I love it and I consider it the quintessential of a traditional watch, but I estimate I am using it no more than 10 times per year.

Back at ya! Enjoy!

Wore mine all day yesterday! Doubt this will ever be a watch I wear daily, especially to the office, likely reserved for weekends and nights out.

Might as well ask here too, as the Platinum thread seems dead.

Is it possible to get a 1,25 or 1.5 link for a 18206, and if so, whats the asking price?
And also, is there a way to "rebuild" the hinge (I have seen several pictures where its either really thin or thick) or what ever the thing is called that I marked Red, I know Rolex can widen the thing so the clasp sits more tight but overtime its will become like it was and you have to widen it again, so whats are the options here?

Thanks for the help.

I am pretty sure you can through an AD. I got a 1.25 for my (now gone) 118239 WG DD. It was just shy of $800
