My Rolex moment was to celebrate being in my 30's by buying myself a Daytona. I went to the AD looking to buy a SUB-C and I mentioned to the sales person that I am settling for a SUB because I couldn't find a Daytona. Long story short, AD had a white SS Daytona in the safe and I felt like I must be super lucky. Later I found this forum and learned that Daytonas are readily available.

Long Wait
After years of waiting and wanting my wife bought me my first Rolex, a GMT IIC for my 50th birthday. 10 months later I fell over when she gave me a Blue Sub C for our 25th anniversary!

I always liked watches, and as a kid- I would "open" them up to see what made 'em work! I even smashed the heck out of some fine pocket watches that my grandfather gave me, because I was too young to know better...
My significant moment.... I always liked the Rolex line, and promised I would buy myself one as a gift for graduating college. So in 2003, I bought a new GMT2/Y and it was not the 'right' watch, so I traded it back in for a new ss sub/F which is my favorite one out of my collection. Many have come and gone since then, but that 16610 is my KEEPER!!! This forum in particular has allowed me to meet many cool folks, expand my knowledge, and my collection! Now I have begun collection other rolex items, like notepads, watch parts, boxes... but still need a pen!!! -n8

My moment was when I got my sub lv from my wife on our 10 year anniversary. I had 2 omegas and a breitling, got the rolex, and now I don't want to wear anything else! Hoping for a new one soon, heading to the islands in a few weeks!

When my family was on vacation in Bermuda in August 1973, my dad purchased his only Rolex and had it engraved with his initials. Many years later, he passed away and my mother said as the eldest son I should inherit the Rolex. Thru a twist of family fate, in our family, the second son is named after the father not the eldest. With my father initials on the watch, I let my younger brother have the watch and I received the Swiss Army knife my father carried. Last October, I finally had enough money to purchase a Blue face Sub C. I have never regretted my decision and I love my new Rolex.

Very cool, Al. You know, maybe everybody will throw something in the pot and we'll just have a giant 50,000 person swap-a-thon. The shipping companies would be very happy

My Rolex Moment...
Our 10th wedding anniversary plans changed. Instead of a romantic getaway for two, we were faced with the loss of a babysitter for the weekend. "Party of four" was the new mantra as we brought the kids along. A bed and breakfast in the hills of Pennsylvania suddenly turned into a weekend at Hershey Park. While waiting in line for Storm Runner, a popular rollercoaster, my wife turned around and said, "Thank you for a wonderful 10 years." and presented me with my Pepsi GMT Master II. I absolutely love it. I didn't mind the 30-minute wait for the ride as I had time to stare and admire this work of art. Unfortunately, I needed a few links removed so I had to keep it in my pocket! until the ride was over. I removed the links later that night in our hotel room. My moment. |
