And to think that I had a hard time between the Sub C and the GMT II C, it's finally time to make up my mind!

Maybe I'm alone here, but a major draw of Rolex for me is the tremendous resale value. It's the increases that are mostly responsible for that. I like that the Sub C I bought bnib (from a trusted seller) 9 months ago for 6900 is now worth more USED than I just paid for it bnib. It's also selfish of me since I really don't foresee buying more Rolexes, just wanted the 116610 really.
As long as Rolex keeps raising prices, and is smart enough to know the market well enough to get away with it, who cares? The Rolex you buy today will still hold its value, or even increase down the road. You might even make a few bucks. How many other watches stay the same or increase in value inside of a year or 2? You can't have your Rolex and eat it too. :) Either you accept the increases and pony up more than you would like for the initial purchase, knowing you won't lose much if anything down the road, or, no increases, the initial cost is less, but diminished resale value. Can't have both. Now if they do hit a ceiling and can't go higher and make acceptable profits, the unlucky ones who bought at the peak will not do quite as well. But even then, they won't lose a bundle like you often do with luxury goods. Let's be honest, maybe us fans and WIS's might, but how many other Rolex buyers would be interested in wearing a "Rolex" if it was priced at $300. Again, the Veblen theory really does seem to apply here. |

As I've said.....just ensure that when you sign a new contract at work you insist on your yearly pay increase matching the % of Rolex. Can't go wrong then
Or it you make those decisions write it into your own contract And any staff who don't wear Rolex ... Well.....too bad

The same always happen with a price increase. A lot of people state Rolex has price themselves out of my range - I'm going to look at X and Y.
A few months later it is as if nothing happened.

I wonder how much Rolex sales go up after an announcement such as this....
Great sales tactic by the looks of things.....

And to go a little deeper, we all knew this was in the pipeline, as has been for decades before! Bet on one more before the years end, and try not to be so surprised everyone....

All AD's who have had large orders into Rolex over the past 3-4 weeks did not/will not conveniently receive their orders for the next 2-3 weeks, with of course new invoice pricing from Rolex. 10% increase in profits across the board to every AD in US--brilliant (at least from a business standpoint). To that however I say |

That's why I buy second hand... let someone else take the initial hit except for the black bay
The prices for the Tudor Black Bay have come out already- will these prices be subject to the price increase as well, or is it now set desptie Rolex increases? |

The "other shoe dropping" should be an announcement that Tudor is back in US in Oct-December timeframe. They just created a market by continuing to up Rolex prices here.
Makes me happy to have my 214270, purchased new for $5200 a year ago, but the next watch will be an Omega Speedy Pro at these prices. Can't blame Rolex, though. Charge what the market will bear.

Apparently, Rolex is spending some of its new-found wealth by updating it's website review of existing models. Take a look.

I think many people now need to see what is outside the box. Look for AP and PP, one day Rolex will catch the RRP with these two prestige watch brands. If price is the same, would you rather have: Daytona or AP ROO? AP ROO, it has choices of nice rubber, leather, SS bracelets and INCLUDING a DATE function Submariner or AP Diver or Hubolt Bigbang? AP Diver for something different in diver watch design Datejust or AP Royal Oak or PP Natilus? Gerald Genta design AP/PP.

and am pretty sure the rest will use this as a catalyst for a price raise... Patek did a triple price raise in 2011... |

I think it was 2 years ago that I was interested in a PP Aquanaut which BNIB was around $16,000. Now that same watch is listed for $20,300. Keep in mind this is the least expensive mens model made by PP, and has a rubber strap. If you want it with bracelet list is $23,400! |

Just spoke with an AD here in Sydney. They were aware of the price increase in the US, but don't know of any price increase planned for Australia.
The new 114060 will retail for almost $7500 AUD though.... |

Wow, those new prices are now similar to the Australian prices that we've been forced to pay since the previous price increase! What this means is that the previously outrageous Australian prices are going to get even more outrageous!
