mine used to be the mascot (a racoon named Roni) of the 1980 winter olympic games (lake placid, where i lived for a time) doing what i love (downhill skiing).

these days, i live in a city (paris) and do a lot less skiing, but i do get to eat a lot of amazing food.

so, i've switched to a photo of foie gras.

umm, lets see.

Thomas Sullivan Magnum is an honorary member of the family. For one thing, I am part Hawaiian, so there's that. My father was a SEAL and did a couple of tours in Vietnam. The show was one of the first to portray vets from that era in a respectful manner, i.e. not drunk under a bridge, as was the stereotype of the day. I was always grateful to Don Bellesario for doing that.

In the days after 9/11 when I was working 70-90 hours a week and going nuts from lack of sleep while on the job, A&E used to run Magnum episodes at 14:00 when I was just coming off or getting up. Anyway, those little episodes about four guys and their friendship (as well as the decent writing and brilliant acting of Hillerman and Selleck) kept me sane as I simultaneously tried to do my job as a LEO/EMT-P and also worried sick about my buddies in NYPD/FDNY.

So, yea, Tom Magnum is a friend of mine.

Great explanation.
Being quite young when watching Magnum PI for the first time, I missed a lot of the subtleties that went on between Thomas and Higgins. Having watched it more recently I totally get it and it still stacks up 25 years later.

Trying to convince the Mrs that we need 2 Pinchers which is proving hard to sell to her at the moment
I wonder what names they would have if I am successful?

Running has been my favorite hobby for 20 years, and I don't see an end in sight.

My high school graduation gift from my father, 28 years ago, with a few slight mods. I asked for a dive watch and he brought me this back from St. Martin.

Vacation to Australia a few years back and I took both of my kids scuba diving. My avatar is my daughter scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef.
