Let my brother borrow my Panerai PAM183 once. He gave it back to me with the crown in a bag. He no longer gets to borrow my watches. My wife prefers her Tudor Ranger to my watches, however she's been asking me to make her a strap for my Tudor Sub ever since I had the top hat replaced with a T39. I'll make a strap when I get home from work travel. She's fairly careful with expensive things.

I really think this question just depends on how well off one is and how many watches they have. Someone well off with a hefty collection may be more lenient toward family with borrowing and in the rare case the watch is lost or broken it won't hurt them AS badly, "its just a watch." versus someone with one or maybe two which they had to save up for a long time for may only trust themselves and none else handling the pieces, when they're more than "just a watch" to them

I let friends borrow them, but most of them already have nice watches. Nobody is allowed to borrow my DayDates though.

The list of people who I trust to wear any of my watches is the same list of people who I trust to drive my car or stay at my house when I'm not around... family and close friends who I know are responsible and in a financial position to right any wrongs that occur.

I am very anal when it comes to caring for my possessions, but being able to share the enjoyment of your obsessions/hobbies is part of the fun of it, right?

But seriously, it is just a watch.

Wife and Sons only. Why would you want to loan out your watch to anyone? It becomes a big responsability for them to take on during the loan time. Is it worth it for anyone?

I can't see an occasion when one of my friends or family would ask to borrow one of my watches....
There's no chance I would ask the same from them, I'm sorry to say, I'd feel embarrassed to ask a family member or friend for the loan of any watch.

My wife occasionally puts one of my watches on around the house (it's hilarious, as I'm a big guy with an 8 inch wrist, and she's willowy, so it looks like a kid putting on a parent's shoes). If any of my good friends asked to wear one, I'd probably say yes, with the exception of my father's watch. They never have.

Anyways, when my future son and nephew become responsible enough, I don't mind loaning them one of my watches.

Same here, people who are into watches knows how to take care of these things.

But i must admit, i have never borrowed any of my watches out, would be too much if something happened, and would just be a mess if it got a big scratch or something.

I would lend mine to a fellow WIS but I only personally know two and they both have different sized wrists to me so it's too difficult to do just to try them. A watch is a really personal item.

On one hand and I don't think I would mind sharing my watch, but on the other it is a bit like a woman sharing her purse... I never thought about how disgusting that could be until my wife, who worked for Coach for 17 years, explained the nastiness inside a woman's purse whose carried it for years.

Some people keep their watches immaculate but most do not. I've gotten better at giving my watches a weekly scrubbing because I've read these forums but can say some of my "pre-watch collecting watches" could have used a good cleaning back in the day... especially in places where the sun don't shine (on the watch).

The more I think about it the more sharing a watch is like sharing underwear... and I guess some people are ok with that.

And, BTW, yes, she can borrow mine and I'll borrow hers.

My ex gf wore my BLNR once and gave me 3 nice scratches on the PCLs at the clasp.
That isn't why she is my ex, but it didn't help her case at all.
