I think the platinum Daytona is the ugliest watch Rolex has ever made.

This is fun.
1) The weird green color of the Hulk bezel destroys the watch and clashes like crazy with the gorgeous green dial. 2) "Cellini" sounds like a herpes prescription 3) the Yachtmaster II bezel complication is completely useless to 99.99% of people who own it 4) Because someone mentioned that the crown looks like the burger king logo, I'm now upset that there isn't an official burger king watch but there is a Dominos one. 5) Why the hell did Jack Bauer abandon the Sub for a G-Shock in later seasons of 24? Freaking Jack Bauer and his stupid G-Shock.. |

I don't yet have a Rolex, and tho I'm thinking of a fluted blue datejust, I do deliberately mix in a few of my Victorinox, lum-Tec, and... wait for it.... Invictas into my daily rotation until I settle in on a new purchase. All my watches, including Invictas, have held up fine through the years; despite the shade, I remember I bought the style for what I could afford at the time... while I know none of those watches are mechanically "acceptable" on the forum, I'm good with them... and don't care about the ridicule.... (tho I'd sell them all for more funds toward my next buy).

You know what's funny is that I LOVE the Hulk, however I agree, they got the bezel color wrong. It would have looked so much better if they made it a slightly darker green

-Most gen X Rolex fans wax Magnum PI nostalgia
-Subs and all sports Rolex should have matte dials -the Deep Sea is dumb and pointless (any WR over 200M is gimmickry ) -the DJ 42 is stupid looking -I prefer date watches |

- Daytona is the best looking watch anywhere but so small as to feel dainty;
- DJ42 better than DJ 41; - Deep Sea Sea Dweller while awesome is rediculously bulky from a thickness standpoint. Every time I wore it I found myself banging into doorways, straining my shirt cuff, and generally wishing I'd gotten the blnr (So I did); - my watches can go hundreds of feet deep, but my ears only let me go about 9 feet down. - |

OK here we go: I don't like the Hulks nor BLNRs (colors are hideous to me). The newer ExpII looks like a Steve McQueen wanna be. I don't believe every Rolex is better if it's made larger. I don't see the value of denser more intricate bracelets for watches just to say that it's made better, can be better adjusted, and worth the extra money. I think spending money on a Pt Daytona is nuts. I'm not really fond of any Daytona made with or without ceramic bezels; if I need a stop watch I'll use a stop watch. I don't really like the flash of ceramic bezels. I like surrounds on my watch lumes better than luminous material straight on the dial. I think only collecting the newest Rolexes is ostentatious and demonstrates a lack of appreciation for the brand as a whole. I like the YMII and wish I were racing sailboats still to justify one. I'm not and I can't/won't justify or wear one. I agree with others who said it's foolish to wear watches designed for a specific purpose without any interest in using them for their designed intent specifically referring to Subs, Explorers (I and II both), Milgauss, and YMIIs. I think YMs are Sub wannabes for the pretty folk. I love seeing the Daytona leopard watch and would love to see one in the wild but I'd not for a second consider owning one. I can't see ever buying a new model gold Rolex and really wonder why I have my DD. I think the blue Milgauss is hideous. I much prefer the OPs to the Explorer. The blue bezeled subs leave me cold. I like my watch loose on my wrist so it can move. I like the Tudor snow flaked hands. I think rubber look straps on Daytonas are absurd. Diamonds on Mens watches are a sign of deeply disturbed personalities. Roman numeral and Arabic numeral watches without lume seem silly. I don't like wearing suits, ties, or shiny shoes. I'd never own a Porsche, Corvette, BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, or Land Rover. The Pt Daytona violates the standard dress code of pairing brown and blue. I don't like retro leather watch straps on Rolex watches. I prefer plexi crystals. |

I don't understand why anyone would change the color of gold to make it not look like gold when there are other metals available. I find it bizarre.
Rolex's everose looks likes a shiny new penny and ages about the same. Older bracelets feel hollow, tinny and extraordinarily cheap. The submariner bracelet stuck on the DSSD is criminal. Might as well tied a string around the watch and knotted it at the wrist. In case you missed point 1- People that work with precious metals have repeatedly stated that they often have to DNA test white gold to verify it's not steel and that the naked eye can't resolve the difference. I have unpopular thoughts when members talk about the warmth, hue and all the clear differences they can see from a few feet away. The Rose gold yachtmaster's bezel looks like a rubber ring stuck on a 25k watch. The smooth bezels on datejusts look like washers. I can't say anything about the specific references I don't like because my opinion has changed so much with time, I'll eat my words. In truly bad taste, I'd be interested in seeing an all PCL bracelet if it was scratch resistant. I think I'm supposed to duck now. |

Also, I hate the comic book and cartoon nicknames for the watches. I was in a Ben Bridge last year and a saleswoman was trying real hard to sell me "the batman!!!" She sounded ridiculous saying it over and over again. |

Since the OP asked...
Unimaginative brand for unimaginative people... Basically the same watch done in different colors and bezels, too much hype around them. Rolex owners frown upon Omega and AP for their Speedy and RO for their special editions, but don't realize what Rolex does is worse? Change a color and call it a new model and charge more... and don't get me strarted on the people that own multiple Rolexes that are basically the same watch (that's how I started haha). I've owned a few and probably will again some day, they are great watches.

Btw love how little hate the Explorer 1 gets on the past six pages. It is my only luxury wristwatch and loving it. Daytonas and platonas should be melted and remade into steel chopsticks. |

Ok here's some for me :
I don't get the love for the EXP2 as I struggle to like it I have zero love for the YM2 I think the exp1 is too dull and over rated on here...I think Milgauss and New AK have far more personality I want to love the hulk but just don't DJ with smooth bezels look stupid, especially larger size ones I think much of the SS Daytona love is just thrill of the chase and hype I'm starting to like old GMT now....but think they're too expensive I would struggle to pick a watch I like more than my Blnr (for any budget) |

Unless you actually are Keith Richards from the Rolling Stones, or maybe Captain Jack Sparrow from 'Pirates of the Caribbean', anyone wearing excess amounts of beads, chunky bracelets, anchors or other wrist paraphernalia with a watch just looks like a try-hard idiot (true for all though, not just Rolex) Whilst I get that they may be much-desired watches for others more than me, prostrating yourself in front of an AD, or tantrumming like a toddler, all because you can't yet buy the latest shiny Rolex is unedifying. If you can't date Scarlett Johansen, try pulling Cameron Diaz, Halle Berry or a Victoria's Secret model instead - there's plenty of nice watches in the World, besides a Daytona Ceramic, get over it & move on. Whilst I deeply love my Rolex, and the company is an exemplar of innovation, quality & history, it's still OK to admit the brand makes a mistake sometimes, or falls a little short of its lofty quality standards occasionally - so when others might validly raise such a point, try not to overreact like they are blasphemers who have just urinated over your wife, children (and dog). |
