She was encouraging and said I should go ahead and purchase the watch before life for us really started to get crazy and priorities change (kids etc) where funds may need to be allocated elsewhere. Amazing woman, I know!

Now for those questioning the “now ruined”relationship with the SA after I declined to purchase ...I contacted him late that evening (well after closing), asked him if it was still available and he said it was still mine.

Went in two days later to collect and glad I did, it really is a thing of beauty.

I guess life has a funny way of working out sometimes....

Good for you, congrats on the purchase! Tough to pass on for sure but the 10k you can make flipping it (before you decided to buy) is not worth the future watches you will he offered. Now, you can probably get whatever you want.

Good move OP. Your SA is a keeper! If this was your grail, and you had the funds, it really was a no brainer. Maybe you just needed reassurance (nicer way of saying "approval") from your wife so that you will never feel guilty about 3 Rolex purchases in one year. I would have done the same thing. 13k is still a lot of money if you’re not ready and flipping it for a profit would only ruin your relationship with the AD if they find out (and they could). So I would say it was a good move!
