Sorry guys, but this Gordon Gecko “time is money” stuff is hilarious. We’re not talking about taking a weeks holiday here - we’re talking about 10 mins out of your life to NOT have your watch butchered by some cack-handed SA like the unfortunate OP. I’m just taking a wild guess, but I can only assume you spend more than 10 mins posting on here each day…

Still, priorities I guess…

When I was picking up my BLNR some weeks ago, my SA was wearing a glove only on her right hand and she had a wedding ring and another ring on her left hand. When she was about to remove the stickers and resize the bracelet, I politely asked her to put another glove on her left hand. She said “Oh that is right”.

Those rings can scratch watches while handing them without gloves. And those micro fiber cleaning clothes that they use to “clean and polish” brand new watches. Who knows how clean those are.

The link with the scratch isn't the removable type though. It's tapered and has a fixed pin. If they have trouble sizing a bracelet there this would be out of their league I would think.

OP - glad this is getting sorted out. Assuming LBG is Lux Bond, I’ve always had great experiences with them…would’ve been surprised if they didn’t make it right. Hope the clasp and link replacement is uneventful and you can enjoy the watch.

I read this thread a few days before I got “the call”. During the re-sizing the watch maker was busy, the SA said “He’s busy I’ll just get the manager to resize it”. Because of this thread I insisted on waiting for the watch maker and waited just 15 minutes more. It went well.

Please all, take lesson from this thread… don’t let anyone else touch it but the watchmaker. They do it all day long!

For the sales associate? Absolutely, even if they'd done a stellar job on sizing. Shouldn't be any problem for the watchmaker, though.

Curious why they didn't just order a new bracelet, unless that would be substantially more expensive (not sure what dealer invoice is on that).

I definitely would NOT let the dealer polish this. If an AD is not competent enough to remove a screw without causing damage, the definitely are not competent enough to trust to remove metal from your watch.

I totally agree. The Manager of the AD should certainly understand your concern and do what is right to rectify this problem. The sales person showed a total lack of professionalism with her snarky remark.

Nice. Well deserved, however seeing how professional that ad seemed at first, do make sure they order it and actually install it on your watch

If it’s still scratched, maybe they got the same person to install it
