Personally, I like the TT look and own a GMT 1675/3 TT, a 1601 TT and a 16713 TT.
It is my opinion that the TT do not hold value as well as the SS over time because of the dramatic increase in bracelet stretch vs. SS over the same period of time/use. The replacement cost of a Rolex TT bracelet from an AD is prohibitive. You will notice that most TT watches have well stretched Jubilee bracelets, oysters much less so but still way more than the SS version. Therefore, the TT watches need to be priced lower in the used market to take into account the cost of bracelet replacement or stated another way, the watches need to be discounted more to offset the decreased utility value of their stretched bracelets and/or offset the future depreciation of the faster stretching TT bracelet. I just bought my TT 1675/3 and love it. I also bought a high quality aftermarket jubilee bracelet to wear it on and am sending the original out for refurbishment. I will not wear the original bracelet ever but it will be nice and tight and stay with the watch from a collectors standpoint. |

I must respectfully disagree with the comment that a TT is an advertisement to the fact that one cannot afford a full gold watch. I am in a suit and tie at work. Up until recently when i was fortunate to obtain a SS Daytona (white dial) my TT GMTIIC got just about all of the wrist time. The YG DD (bark/black dial) sat in the safe for special occasions. I'm wearing the daytona regularly but the TT GMTIIC is my favorate all-arounder. And, as someone previously posted, i can wear my TT with gold jewelry or silver.
I like SS but there is certanly nothing wrong with TT, notwithstanding the stretch of the bracelets and the high replacement cost. Then again, I have a hairy chest and do get fairly tan in the summer. |

This discussion is going nowhere.... I don`t care about what is in trend or fashion or in or out of style ! I wear whatever I like and appeals to me, be it SS, TT or gold.
Remember the old saying: Whatever is old is new again ! I bet you gold will make a comeback after the trend of wearing SS wears down.. When ? Nobody knows..... |

Disagree completely. IMO I always found the SS/TT/all gold to be so different from each other. The contrast of the TT v all gold is so different...making them "different". IMO anyways

First, as a child of the 80's, I have avoided yellow gold of any sort for over a decade. It makes me feel like I'm either out of place or playing a supporting role in an Adam Sandler throwback movie.
Moreover, a TT datejust is, from my experience, what every non-WIS person (or more likely, their wife) ends up with when they finally have enough money to waddle into an AD and say "Hey, it's about time I bought myself/my husband a Rolex." Without fail, if I talk to someone I meet professionally who has a DJ, most especially a TT DJ, they have no clue about anything at all related to their watch, other than it was the expensive Rolex they finally treated themselves to. On the other hand, if I see a guy with a Coke GMT or an Expy II, you can usually expect some interesting conversation. These guys tend to have learned more and shopped more for their watch, and tend to be quite frankly more discerning owners. They got the watch that wasn't the obvious choice pushed on them by an AD or bought for them by their wives. My 2c. And all that being said, no one in their right mind can argue that a Bluesy Sub (the original, not the smurfmariners) isn't gorgeous. |

On the other hand, I don't see anything wrong with somebody wanting to treat themselves to something they like even if they don't know the last detail about it, free world and all. |

Personally I don't care for TT watches.
1) I just don't prefer the aesthetics. I prefer SS, yellow gold or white gold. 2) TT bracelets exhibit more "stretch", as the harder SS grinds against the softer 18k. This result is that TT stretch more than all gold or SS. |

Personally, I feel the TT models are the best of the lot. Just looks cool in my eyes....
I never visioned TT as an old man watch, I find them classy. The Date Just II and Sub/GMT TT models are just amazing. IMO! |

Ok gold is now worth as much as platinum and that is because gold is back. I see the new bluesey selling for about 8600-9k on the second hand market now. That is up more than 10 percent from 3 months ago. Most TT watches are most likely purchased with a much more steeper discount from AD's right now so you can not go wrong.

IMO SS reflects simplicity with total satisfaction. TT reflects a desire to move forward, a confused mind and an awareness of not having reached there. YG/WG confirms you are rich enough to buy an expensive watch, with an erroneous feeling of being successful but wanting more attention anyways!

I like TT watches as well, but my preference is for SS. I really like the white gold sub with the blue face.
