Something I've noticed looking at the photos on this thread is that the detail on the lugs where it is brushed and polished at the ends seems to vary quite significantly from watch to watch. Some ends seem quite flared whilst others quite narrow, is this normal? Is it due to hand finishing? Anyone know? Or is just time I went and got that eye test?

Do you think it's probably just the angle in which the photos are taken? I'm not seeing it...

I appreciate what you are saying, but still think there are differences irrespective of the photo angle. I'd be interested to see two side by side to confirm whether or not my eyes are playing tricks on me.

Hi all ...... I'm a newbie on the Rolex forums

Quick couple of questions regarding my recent Black Bay purchase ..

1. My leather doesn't seem to have much distressing compared to ones I've seen in photos ? The distressing on one is quite fine and only noticeable on fairly close inspection. Is this just to be expected that some are more distressed than others ?

2. When I apply pressure on the bezel it clicks or 'travels' down a millimetre ... I have a SD 16610 and this doesn't do this ..... Is it normal ?

Thanks everyone for answers in advance. I'll post some pics soon. Only been into Rolex for 12 months having moved over from Panerai, IWC among others ...

Love the black bay red (burgundy) ..it's a box ticker. Keep flipping from my sub but back to the BB .. love how it flys under the radar in the UK.

Great thread...these are really growing on me, especially the vintage look of the red on leather.

Does anyone know if the Red is still available now that the Blue has been released?

Theres plenty of new ones available in Europe and I imagine the same in US. I'm sure it's not a discontinued model now BB blue has arrived.. Get one !

I'm in, too..

I have both Black Bay models, and love both. IMO, each one has a totally unique and different look. I couldn't be happier with these watches.

Thanks for looking.
Regards, -rick.

I've actually only owned the blue bezel watch for about 3 weeks, lol, I picked it up over Labor Day weekend. I've had the red one since 2012, so it's rather difficult to answer a comparison question. But, I can tell you that I still like the red one a lot, with its cool, retro, gilt-like look. By contrast, the blue one has a more modern appearance, with white lettering and minute markers, and silver-look hands, hour marker surrounds, and bezel numerals. As such, each watch offers a completely different look, each one is quite unique & attractive, and neither one is 'better' than the other. I'll be hanging onto both of them.

Best regards, -rick.

Interesting side-by-side comparison...I didn't realize they were so different.
