They are one big joke... to push the reveal on official webiste and all the bloggers post the final product before them...

Speaking of watches the key design element, which is the midcase octagon is not visible on hand, and watch looks one of million generic watches with absolutely nothing new and premium looking.

Big disappointment in my book...

Doesn’t look bad but I wish they had also launched another steel sports watch.

Sihh 2019

I’m hoping the ROC eventually gets this in-house integrated chronograph. I suspect they will upgrade the movements in the RO and ROC with these calibers next SIHH.

I wonder how thick the chrono movement is now.. and if it will lead to an increase or decrease when its implemented in the ROC..
In terms of the 11.59 design all I can say is it is nice for someone whose on the market for classic watch designs. Its not as nice as some classic patek complications but its right up there with vacherons designs..

Check this link out guys-

After seeing this year’s releases, I am going to go after a 15400 this year... and then wait to see what they do with the ROC next SIHH before buying one.

Wow. Ugly and tasteless does not begin to describe it. What a waste of effort and raw materials. Just wow. Although, the straps are kind of nice.

Never thought I'd say that but in comparison with that " Code smg by AP" (BTW - what is this? Armani Exchange equivalent now?", these JLC kick arse of AP and some more. At least they have some sort of JLC look, you can see there is quality and decent design effort, not to mention the movements that would kick AP's to the curb.

And in this pic I don't see the "perfect proportions for man, woman, anybody wrist" that is mentioned by Bennahmias in the video...

Agree, Polaris is a real watch that works well on strap, bracelet and rubber with JLC DNA all over...

OK, considering AP finishing, this watch with polished and brushed sides will look premium when examined, but on wrist shots in does nothing for me...

What a scoop: a 4 Hz movement from AP! What's next, a Patek with hacking seconds? Sorry

Now that I have a closer look, I am not so sure anymore.

FHB in the youtube video says its completely original design but it looks like a cross between the Nomos and the JLC Polaris.

And these are the best shots... just don't head on Instagram to see how out of proportion these watches looks on slightly smaller wrists...

I like the RG chrono more than I thought I would but can't see myself wanting to acquire one. The non-chrono version has way too much plain dial for me.

The AP brand is all about the iconic octagonal bezel and that's where my loyalty will likely remain. I do hope with the launch of this new line they don't neglect what made the brand what it is today.

And at 41mm, definitely not uni-sex. The dial and case design with the slim bezel also makes the watch wears big irl I believe.

Does look rather bland, I agree that the octagon case should be a bit more prevalent so it doesn't look so conventionally round, and the open 6 and 9 don't do it for me. A chrono in SS would be interesting. Cal 4401 and 70 hours PR are cool.

Looks like it is actually called the Code. Think we need superhero names at last!

Read in the Hodinkee comments that this is like a MB, Chopard, JLC, DW, Diesel, etc... just goes to show how similar looking most watches are. The one trick pony of the octagon architecture seems more valuable by the day, bet all these other firms wish they had such a USP.

I like the design and JLC & AP have a long shared DNA. JLC and AP founding families owned shares from both companies, until they sold JLC off to Richemont Group and Kept AP.

That said, both watches have a very Bauhaus design DNA just like a Patek Calatravel, a Junghans Max Bill but also a Daniel Wellington shitty watch. Oh yeah my fridge is also very Bauhaus, its all white and sleek, form fitting function with no excess.

Point is very few designs are original, especially for a dress watche, with three hands (Hour, minute, seconds) and date.

However, I think the design could have been more classy if the used a small seconds at 6 o'clock like on the 300k platinum minute repeater. Which looks absolute class but I guess they wanted to save that design for the top end.

To be honest, I don't care about the time only dress watches from AP's new launch since they already have one of the best the 15180. You want a classy time only AP dress watch get a Jules Audemars extra flat:

https://www.audemarspiguet.com/en/wa....OO.A102CR.01/

If I need a dress watch, that is what I would buy, best automatic dress watch out there.

The chronograph and especially the new perpetual calendar are the winners here. Chrono looks good but will need to see in person how it feels to actuate the pushers, also its a 4hz chrono so the sweep will look noticeably different from their current ones.

The perpetual calendar is the real deal, its probably the best watch in terms of looks from the whole line and will sell out immediately, probably impossible to find and we will expect to have buy from greys at a premium. The aventurine star dial reminds me of some Patek celestials, it fits well with the perpetual calendar dial layout, and at 65k its underpriced for what it is.

I think AP made a mistake in releasing the lower price point time/date only watches to cater to a lower budgets, they should have released only the chronos and the perpetual calendars, tourbillons, and minute repeaters.

AP made a mistake by making the time/date only simple model at 25k, people who are at that price point tend to buy Rolex/SS sports because it doesn't look like a precious metal bauhaus which has been taken over by way cheaper watches. This model cheapens the image of the line, no matter how well executed the watch is and how well done the finish is.

All AP needs to do to correct this is to cut the time/date models out of the line, and only produce the complicated ones.

That huge white plain dial is very unremarkeable and boring. Long live the octagon!

Could someone photoshop the "12" away form the 12 o clock postion and add a "AP" logo on the Chronograph ?
I think that's the way they should have done it and would make the dial so much nicer and more Audemars Piguet

Cheers
