Hmmmm... I'm kind of slow sometimes, but somehow I don't really think that "" really meant "thumbs up," did it?

Ahhhhh no...that's exactly what it meant. IMO, this thread is a complete waste of time, yet GoodWatch's post was the only thing worthwhile wrt reading & information. I thoroughly enjoyed it and therefore gave him the big Nothing more, nothing less.

I know many people who collect both watches and guns. They also collect motorcycles, old cars, and fountain pens. When I first joined here I was really perplexed over the no gun/knife policy. To say that it creates too much controversy is a non issue for me. I've seen some threads here involving watches get very heated. When it gets out of hand, the Mod locks the thread or warns the members. The same could be done with a firearms thread. No difference IMHO. And yes, I've seen many threads on gun forums where people are asked about their watch collections. No problem or complaints from the members or Mods. The bottom line is the fact that this forum is owned by a person who sets the rules as he sees fit. If he doesn't want discussions about guns, knives, or cucumbers, that's his right.

In an international community such as this, it is much more rewarding to share our commonality than it is to battle over what are inherently divisive issues. Besides, such issues will never be definitively settled online, so it's easier not to even introduce them. Just my two cents.

I'm grateful to all the mods not only for creating the rule but also for enforcing it. It makes for a far happier place. Howard, I agree with your sentiments exactly, that's precisely how I feel.
Therefore the most disturbing thing in this whole thread is that photo of Terry Wogan and his spuds. Way too much information!

So this thread didn't make any sense but you read it anyway. That makes about as much sense as the thread itself - brilliant contribution!

Spot on. Nobody has to be here if they don't want to be. I view it as being a guest in someone's house. As you've said, their house, their rules.

TRF does have an ignore function - although I am not sure how to activate it.
