Hi Des, I agree hence most of us here from Aus don't buy in Aus. Tudor's latest releases may be the exception, depending upon how I feel when I see these in the flesh. Have a good Friday mate, Jules.

Prices are (of course) in GBP Sterling.

The 'investment aspect' of Rolex is the reason that the brand remains so strong. The moment they start cutting prices or openly discounting is the moment we should all be worried.

Getting cheaper for me to buy in Japan than the US even considering the Dollar Yen exchange.

I blame Omega for the Rolex price increases. £5k - £6k for a PO? Rolex have to respond. People who do not know about watches might think the more expensive must mean better quality. I am not saying an Omega is not worth the money by the way - I'm a huge fan but just think Rolex need to stay ahead for prestige.

What, Rolex is trying to narrow the price gaps with Sky Dweller, no?

[QUOTE=btinl;3328325]Do discontinued watches like the 14060M increase in price or just stay at their last listed?[/QUOT

Historically watches that are no longer in the catalog, i.e. discontinued, are not raised. However, the ND Sub may not be the same as it was just recently discontinued. I'm going to call today to find out myself.

The dollar is at a 52 week high against the Swiss franc so I do not believe it's that, more probable the second reason you gave..."why not".

Unless I heard wrong, the Swiss franc was intentionally devalued because it was so strong, it was causing problems.

Seems odd to me that a currency could be TOO strong, but economics aren't my thing. :)

News from my AD in Stockholm Sweden
Price increases will be effective monday June 4th with 6-10% across the range.
I'm wondering if I should pick up an Explorer II or a SubC tomorrow before the increases. I'm still undecided between the two.

I intended to make a purchase in october months, but with these increases I really don't know if I should bite the bullet now or bite the dust in october.....

Still learning here...it seems like this type of increase happens multiple times a year? I wonder what happened back in 2008-2009? Was there any increases back then when many parts of the world was in or about to fall into recession?

They keep raising prices but the demand IMHO at these prices is just not there. They have closed more AD's in the last year than ever before and plan on closing many more. This I assume was from high demand? LOL. I wonder who would want to still be an AD these days with these prices and what Rolex demands of an AD? The risk/reward ratio is not there for them anymore IMHO. The product doesn't reflect the price and has not in a few years.

If a currency is too strong, it dampens exports since it costs MORE foreign currency to purchase Swiss goods. If too weak, it dampens the demands for imports.

Moderation is key with currency valuation.
