12 seems to fit the DNA of the brand more. Looking good.

Yes and the double baton looks like snake fangs to my eye.

Salmon is beautiful. Great choice, Scott!

Congrats Scott! 100% agree wrist balance is excellent.

The dial is incredibly dynamic and has so many different colors and effects that simply can't be captured by camera. It many photos, the dial comes across as more yellow in color and the stairway detail makes it look almost checkered. But, in real life, the color is definitely more salmon looking and the "checkerboard" detail is much more subdued.
Thx for sharing and agree you reeeeeeally need to see these in person to fully appreciate them.

I haven't had it very long, but I am extremely satisfied with it so far. I'm also very happy with my choice of 12 at 12 o'clock.
Love the elongated 12 font, which of course is matched by the date window text. Also love how Czapek takes time to color-match the date window background. Congrats again Scott. Enjoy your time

Congrats! And thanks for sharing the live impressions. I never had the chance to see live the salmon and, as written previously, I would have slotted it as honey or sand because from pictures I didn’t find the pink component which probably you have seen at the wrist.
Great dial, also for the 12 which is my choice.

Anyone with orders in for the Glacier Blue Antarctique, what strap option did you choose? Does anyone have any pics of their Glacier Blue watch on strap?

I ordered the blue strap, but like you am hoping by the time I have to decide , others would have received theirs and posted some pics .

Which blue? I think they have a navy and a light blue option.

Navy. I don’t recall seeing the light blue when placing the order last March.

Sadly they are still shipping orders without straps. I think most people have not received their straps yet to be honest.

My order is for Glacier blue. I am still not sure which strap. Grey or black is what I consider.
That said. I am also considering to change my order and go for the deep blue dial instead of the glacier blue.

Oh that’s unfortunate. I think it’s a supplier issue related to the little connector piece. I hope that Czapek does right by the customers who have taken delivery of their watch without the extra strap. I can’t imagine it would cost them too much to offer a second complementary strap, although I suppose if the supply issue is persistent, then doing so would just exacerbate the problem.

Does Czapek have any momentum in pre-owned sales? DavidSW doesn't have them listed, and Watchbox treats them like the plague. I think they're beautifully built watches from a very unique company just wondering if the brand will ever be viewed as a serious player. FPJ was a new company and the preowned market was in a frenzy for them. What's the difference?

Question for y'all....
I have a Glacier Blue ordered, and should get delivery sometime this spring. But there is a problem. I graduated from Duke, and the watch is going to be Carolina Blue. Initially I didn't think this was going to be a problem, but now I'm struggling a bit with this... I think all of this was worsened by last year's Final Four loss.

What part of that question gives the appearance I'm trolling? I was going through a divorce a year ago and wanted to sell my Fratello Green Czapek and got offered 14K by watchbox and nobody else was willing to offer a penny. I didn't want to turn a profit but there's certain circumstances in life that require you to sell assets. In the end the Czapek remained.

As of February 1, 2023 we are shipping the strap along with the bracelet and the watch.

We are working on shipping retailers their lot of back straps as well.

You’re comparing apples and oranges. This isn’t the place to break down the differences but if you are thinking czapek is the next FP Journe you’re going to be disappointed.

They offered you fair value. I don't see an issue.

For what it's worth I saw private sales at $19k on the white dial (the one I wanted) a year ago. I really like your dial color but Chrono asks were closer to $30k at that time.

Yeah I'm not trying to trigger people I was just relaying my experience, which is why I thought we are here. In a divorce watches are listed as assets (whether TRF people agree with this or not, legally they are). I've never sold a watch since I do enjoy them and don't buy them to make money, but its nice to know things retain a certain value. I didn't expect to make money and I think the 40k asking on some is absurd, but its odd that there's a multi year wait list but you'd struggle to get 50% after a year unworn.

Mine came through a US AD 6 days ago with no strap. Unless you meant direct from Czapek only.

Not sure the specifics, perhaps we didn't have the grey rubber when yours shipped.

I will look into it for you.

So a few things here:

1) FPJ had absolutely terrible resale value in the 2010-2014 period and the CB was at times being offered through DavidSW in the mid teens, and often sitting. Hodinkee Talking Watches with JJ was the first time I had really ever even heard of the brand / first time I had even considered it.

2) WatchBox is I believe one of the world's largest preowned dealers and they don't do consignment. As such they have an enormous inventory sheet and can afford to offer crap values. If you say no, do you know how many other thousands of people are asking for offers? Have you ever checked to see how much they offer for your Rolex, AP, or Patek compared to the market price? They offered me 40k for my Gronefeld at a time when they had them posted for 70k. That spread is insane. Also what is interesting is that even now, the average asking price on WatchBox for an Antarctique is upper 20s. So they obviously see the value...

3) The entire market has been tanking over the last 11 months. And even with some stabilization, not much has been moving as of late.

4) You don't buy a relatively new independent if you are looking for liquidity. BTW, have you seen what gets thrown around Moda watch group all day? 95%+ of the watches sold in that group are GMT, Daytona, Royal Oak, and Overseas. Generally dealers like predictability and would rather make $500 over and over again on the same watch vs. gamble on something unknown. The average dealer has little to no experience selling a Czapek and won't even know what to offer you.

These are all fair points. I agree its dealers cash and the market is slow so they will only offer what they know for sure they can get return on even if they sit on it. Same thing in the car market right now. Hence I kept it, because despite what people think when I write about resale, the watch in my eyes is well worth more to me than 14k. Yeah most dealers are not watch people, they're sales people so as you said they don't even know the brand. Czapek has been a great company to deal with, they sent me all the missing parts over time as well

Albert at EWC had FPJs at reasonable price years ago too. He's a big fan since the beginning.
