How to chose which one??

Soon I will be buying a Rolex watch. I am sure many people have gone through a painful “decision making” exercise. After going through several reviews and after comparing several models and considering my budget I have short listed my options to two watches:
1) The NEW GMT Master II
2) Yacht Master
I need a final little “mind push” from the forum to make it successfully to the “Finish Line”….???

In either case...my vote would go to the GMT2C...and I am pretty sure that'll be the case on here (but I may be wrong)

If you add just a little more $$, you can also consider the Daytona SS... or at around the same price the Deep Sea.

If your rationale decision is based on looks alone, then consider the color schemes of both watches with what you wear and like.

Great choice also with the YM in that case...I have both and my GMT2C is the more wearable 'everyday' watch....has much more versatility and function..if I were to only have one it would be the GMT2C

From the two choices, my vote goes for GMT IIC......as some like to call it a GENIUS from ROLEX!

I vote for the GMT, which will be on my wrist by the end of the day!

Another vote for the GMT - as much as I like the look of the Yachtmaster, the clasp is a big flaw and a dealbreaker for myself. The GMT bracelet and clasp is one of the finest available on the market today

I vote for the GMT IIc as well. I just got one and can't stop looking at it. It's a very good looking watch.

Either are nice but the GMT has it beat for durability, utility and readability (contrast hands verses face). I shudder to think about putting that first scratch in the plat bezel but I still want one someday.

Want a single Rolex that you can wear anytime / any place, dressed-up or down, formal or casual, rugged outdoors or sensitive, underwater or in-flight???????? the YM does it all.

its basically comes down to which one "sings" to you more.

but keep in mind:

- I *think* the YM has Maxi minute hand but regular (smaller) hour hand. GMT IIc has Maxi everything :)
- The YM has platinum bezel, so each scratch is quite "expensive". on the other hand, GMT IIc has a ceramic bezel insert which is very scratch resistant
- GMT IIc has more "hard angle" on the case, while YM has smoother angles
- GMT IIc has triple lock crown, YM has twin lock crown
- GMT IIc has the Parachrom Blu hairspring, i don't know about the if the latest YM has it or not
- GMT IIc has AR coated cyclop
- and of course, the GMT IIc has GMT hand complication (but lack quick set date)

YM for me !! Get the GMT2C if you must have different time zones. Yacht master Platty is extremely nice!

depends on what watch sings to you
for the price of the YM I, you can add a wee bit more and get the TT GMT IIc already... other rollies within the price range would be a Deep Sea as well as a TT Sub

The mission of getting my first Rolex is accomplished successfully….
Ok.. this is what happened…
I went to Rolex AD along with my wife, who consistently encouraged me to buy the GMT IIc, and that exactly what I was going for…. However, the YM was still on my wish list.
I asked the guy to bring me the GMT IIc, I looked at it, the black dial surrounded with an amazing black ceramic bezel gave it a courageous look…. I tried it on and got the acknowledgment from my wife and everyone was happy…
Suddenly, I found my self asking the guy a simple question… Can I see a YM? He went and came back with what I have asked; when I looked at it I realized that I made it difficult to my self.
This little piece has a really elegant look, the platinum bezel with a matching dial color made it a Royal watch.
I spent more than 15 min. steering at both of them and really didn’t know which one to choose.
The GMT looked more "Sportish" and an outgoing watch, the YM looked as a classical and elegant watch….
However, after that long 15 min, I felt that the YM sang a beautiful song and I realized that it suit me better than the GMT….
Therefore and finally I bought the YM and I have no doubt that I have made the right decision.
Both watches are really great, but I could not resist the beauty and the elegance of the YM.

As earlier posts say you should try them out and see which one sings to you!!
If it was my choice id vote for the GMTc!!
