I'm having trouble deciding which one to go with. Any information or opinions are greatly appreciated.

If price is not an issue, I'd personally go with the 233.

However, the 312 maintains a cleaner dial and packs quite a punch in terms of value for your dollar.

There are actually more people on this forum that like the 312....and it's about half the cost.

Now, the 233 is strictly a manual wind piece and boasts a sweet 8-day PR indicator.

The 312 is autmomatic. The 233 has a domed crystal and the numbers are slightly bigger on the dial, while the 312 is no-fuss. Both have in-house movements.

Now, with that disclaimer out of the way, go with with the Panerai that is the closest to the originals - the 312 - for your first one. The 312 is a modern interpretation of the classic pieces with an automatic movement and date function.

Merely my opinion.

I was first debating between a 233 and 270 but I favored some of the details of the 233. Then to add confusion, the 312 came out...When I tried both on, the 312 really stood out to me. A 233 is still on my list but I can wait

All three are beautiful watches. Try them on and see which you like best.

As the others have said they are all great watches. If you ignore price then I personally preferred the 312 due to its clean looks, the fact that I didn't need a GMT on this watch, and because I was looking for an automatic watch.

You really have to see them all in real life to help your decision I would guess then one will stand out for you. Good luck and look forward to the pictures!

I had the same choice, and it was easy in the end.

I wanted the automatic function, but the slight increase in thickness of the 270 when side by side with the 233 made the proportions a little out for me. Now, like others, I enjoy the winding process.

As to the 312/320, the thickness may measure the same, but the thickness is all in the steel, not in the glass, which to me made it look a little chubby.

Of course this is all down to how it wears on the wrist, and that varies from person to person.

I love that 233, and is easily my most admired watch. (Also the black tunnel strap is my favorite)

I went for the 312 myself..

The 233 is manual winding, and I'm not quite fond of manual winders.

While the 320, I never used the GMT Indicator, hence it just makes it crowded...

So I ended up getting the 312, simple, useful, and classic. IMHO.

Thank you all for your input. I went with the 312. I really wanted and still do want a 233, but what I didn't explain in my original post is that this watch is to celebrate the birth of my son, and that plan is for me to wear it as a constant reminder of him when I'm at work or not around him, and then to give it to him when he graduates from college and enters the real world. He was born in 2009 the same year the 312 was releases so I thought it would be fitting to have a watch that was "born" the same year he was. The AD gave me a choice between a K and a L series and I went with the K since its the series that was first released. Does anyone know of any good reason to go with the L?

Good reason to go with the L? It's newer, so it can fetch a higher resale value? That's probably the only thing - but it's kinda' redundant anyway, since you're not planning to sell it off...

It sounds like you don't have any plans of selling it in the future, then it really doesn't matter whichever you get. In fact you might be better off getting the K being that it was the first series of this model released.

The choice between 312 & 320 is your call but the choice between 312/320 & 233 depends on how much you are willing to spend. You already know the differences, is the 233 worth that much to you over the 321/320? If you answer yes, then buy it, if not then choose between the 312/320.

I personally see little value in the 233/270 and waited for the 312. The price for the 312 in relation to brand name, quality, movement was much more logical than those attributes to the 233/270, to me.
