Rolex submariner

Hi and happy new year.

Im new at this forum and I have a question about a brand new Rolex submariner 16610.

I bought it 2 weeks ago brand new at a AD. I have worn it everyday and the day I bought it I rewind it maunally 20 times.
It has worked perfectly but yesterday it stopped when I took it of for 1 hour.

I rewind it manually again and now it works perfektly again(it has only gone 1 day since it stopped).

1. I have only rewind it manually once,mayby I have to rewind it twice a month?

2. I dont wear it when I do sport mayby thats the reason?

3. I work a deskjob so mayby I have to move my arm more?


Please give me some advice before I return it to the shop.

Hi Adam,

Welcome to TRF - Happy New Year.

The 16610 is the most popular 'sports' Rolex.
I would give it 50 winds to make sure it's powered up (you can't overwind it) and wear it as you normally would.
I wear my Sub for only 8 hours a day and it has never stopped.
See how it goes.

You have the Rolex warranty if there is a mainspring problem.

I'll agree with Eddie and add, I do not think that you are active enough to "top-off" the power reserve in the watch..

I always encourage those who are less active and are concerned to wind their watch each month when they change the date.. If it does not have a date, then you have to remember to do it on the first or other key reference...

Hi and tnx for your advice.It should have a powerreserve for 45 hours but its probably because I am not to active. I have a nother question: should you be able to here the rotor when you shake the watch or will it wind silencly?

I can't hear the rotor turning on any of my Rolex watches but a younger man (or girl) might be able to.

PS. If you want to check your mainspring wind your Sub 50-60 turns and leave it somewhere safe. It should run for around 48 hours.

Tnx for your advice I have also been in contact with a Rolex service office and they confirmed what you already wrote to me that I probably wasnt wearing the Rolex enought and didnt give it time to wind up.I have tested the time reserve and it was 48 hours so now im going to wear it more often and be more active in my movements:) Best regards Adam
