I believe I have something VERY special. JAMES BOND RELATED!
So i recently aquired an original 1016 explorer. its in amazing shape. original gilt dial, marked swiss, with minute chapter ring as well. the watch holds the 1560 movement in amazing condition and is beautiful! the dial has never been touched and is in AMAZING SHAPE! now here is the kicker. I am doing research on the watch and I came across dell deaton's article "Discovered: James Bond's Rolex, published in watchtime feb. of 2009. he describes the original watch...a 1016 explorer, with case number 596851. he also describes the caseback as being marked IV.60. here is where the fun begins. MY WATCH..same exact time. caseback marked IV.60..and the case number is 596,600!!! 251 cases away from the original ian flemming watch! and in fact...earlier. but produced at the same exact time! I thought this was VERY COOL...and maybe just another number, or silly thing to most..but I wanted to share with you guys! the fact that the dial hasnt been touched is special as well...feel free to give me thoughts, opinions, anything...im literally starting a discussion here....the article and NAWCC bulletins from dell deaton can be found on www.jamesbondwatches.com! have at it guys..I am excited to have this one, and I think its a special watch! i will upload photos as soon as the photo shoot is complete. Im have a photographer shoot the watch for me tomorrow
