Mid Size Submariner ?

I know Rolex makes plenty of DJs in Mid-Size and they also make the Yacht Master in Mid-Size my question is:

Has there ever been any discussion of Rolex making the popular Submariner in a Mid-Sized watch?

I know Omega makes their Seamaster in a Mid-Size that is very popular. I recently purchased one as a B-day gift for my girl. I think the Sub in Mid size would be an incredible watch for a lady, not that the current full sized sub isn’t….it’s just a bit large for some women.

Anyway, I’d like your thoughts and input, and, who knows, maybe Rolex is listening. Thanks

While the thought is not bad, I don't think a mid-size Sub would sell.

As far as the ladies models go, Rolex makes just one sports watch - the YM......and even that is not very popular with the ladies who would much prefer the DJ.

Of course, there are several ladies out there who prefer the full size men's models and even choose to wear the Sub. It does look quite distinctive on many of them.

The Yachtmaster line comes in all sizes.. No reason to take the Sub the same way............

Larry,... Is the Yacht Master available (or has it ever been) in a Black face. Perhaps that would satisfy those interested in the style of Sub but with some compromise. I don't think it is...but I'm not certain....
It is the contrast of the black and SS that I believe set it apart. Thanks

No BLACK dial YM as far as I know.

There is of course the Platinum dial one............and in TT there are 4 colours: Champagne, Blue, White and Slate grey.

The problem is that the Yacht Master Mid Size is only available in TT....(I think). If they made it in a Black faced Stainless...there would be no reason for a Mid Size Sub...I totally agree....but I don't believe they offer it in Stainless only.

The YM mid-size is also available in the SS/Pt. version as well as full YG, but no black dial.

Not a Rolex sub. midsize, but A Rolex Tudor sub. midsize 35mm. Model 75090.
Here compared side by side with a 16610.Last produced late 90's.

You are correct... I just noticed they do in fact have the SS/PT but no black face. I also like the mid size Tudor posted by ON42....very nice indeed. But I think what she really wants is the a Mid Size Sub...so I may be in luck and not had to buy one because they don't exist. Thanks

I understand your desire for a mid-size Sub. I would love one (by Rolex). However, I have settled with a Tudor (Rolex) 75090 and love it. Very comfy and keeps great time.

My first Automatic was a mid size Seamaster because I thought my 6.5" wrist could not handle a full size. Sold the mid in a couple months...and now I wear a Sub and GMTII AND a Panerai.

Just saying that I don't care for mid size sport watches. Wanted to tho.

Maybe I'll resize the band on my Sub and let her try it for comparison to the Mid size Omega. After seeing a few of the mid size Tudors I am also impressed, and would like to try one of those on her wrist for another comparison. Don't misunderstand me, she loves the M /S Omega, at this point it's me and my affection to Rolex that continues the quest.
When I started this tread, I was just wondering if a mid sized Sub was ever discussed or made. I appreciate the input from some of TRF's most knowledgeable. I now know the answer to both questions is no and not likely.
Another solution for me, I have a new sub on order from my AD and I could "transfer my current Sub to her". That is, if she's fines it comfy! Thanks again. Cujo

In the early 1990's I was told by two different AD's that a mid size sub was expected. Obviously it never happened

Maybe a Turn-O-Graph. It has the rotating bezel but is 36mm. I think they're interesting looking, but not common.
