What's the best deal you ever got on a new Rolex from an AD?
What's the best deal you ever got on a new Rolex from an AD?
There's very little discounting in the IL area. I've found several ADs willing to discount 20% on staple models such as AK and DJ in Wisconsin without too much effort. Discounts on sports models with the exception of the Explorer II seem to be little or none. What are your experiences? |

Best discount at AD would be FREE: rofl:
Actually I have gotten 25% off on new stock at AD before but it is very difficult. I now buy everything from trusted sellers here on TRF

Back a while ago, I got a BNIB Yachtmaster at 35% off at Smart Jewelers in Chicago, but they (surprise!) are no longer an authorized dealer. I got my BNIB DD at 28% off at C.D. Peacocks, but they are currently being managed by former managers at carribean cruiseship tourist jewelers, and, being rather dim, they no longer discount at all. Best deal I've ever gotten was 51% off of a BNIB two-tone oyster perpetual for my wife, but I'm pretty sure the salesperson was a rookie and the thing was mismarked, because I've never, ever seen a Rolex that low.

I have been offered substantial discounts on say D if V's are out... When I say 20-25, I mean on current newest stock. Thanks, Adam

15% - 20% are common with a relationship. A going out of business AD here in Destin gave 40% off. My friend picked up a DD 18K YG.

The YM was old stock - and to tell you how long ago it was, the one I got 35% off on did not have SELs, which Rolex had just then gone to with its sport models. So a large part of the discount was because of that. With my wife's OP, it's a model still sold and I cannot for the life of me figure out why it was marked that way, but (even tho we did NOT have the money at the time) it was too good a deal to pass up and we bought it. The DD was current stock and current model (solid bracelet). I just had a good relationship with the dealer at the time.

My AD in DE doesn't carry many sports models. Let me re-phrase that, they don't stay long in the cases. As such, the Sub & SubND only get 5%. Both GMTIIc's and DSSD's get 10%. Ironically enough, the ExpII's and Milgauss get 15% disc.
I know people have already left deposits for the new Sub's. So, this will, of course, be selling for retail (or more...crazy! ). |

Well, someone bought the watch and returned it, unworn, because he felt that the dial and bezel color didn't match. Lunatic. Because it was 'sold' Tiffany wouldn't resell it as new, although it was unworn. I bought it for under 3K. And I have a spare Tiffany dial and a spare bezel insert.
Now a real deal was my Classique Breguet chronograph . . . that I stalked for 10 years. |

Tiffany was the first jeweler to sell the renewed Breguet brand in the US; I think I've talked about how Sympathique clock/watch number two was my baby for a long time. Anyway, when Tiffany made the decision to continue to sell only Rolex, Patek, and Baume Mercier they had overstock on the other brands they carried. (Mostly because Tourneau sold many of these brands, ie Blancpain, Audemars, GP, Vacheron and they were discounting the hell out of them and we didn't discount). So I knew some of these would end up in the employee store. I knew there were two 3237 hand wound chronographs (with the Lemania movement that Patek used as the ebauche for the 3970). Both were being serviced, as they hadn't sold for several years and had been handled instore. I was tipped off that they were going to be put up for sale, so the day they hit the employee store I was there at opening. List 22K, estore price 3.3K, I had a ten percent discount for giving blood at a company event, so I paid 3K. That said, that's still not the best deal! I may make you guys wait a day or so for that one! |

I will differ and share MY BEST DEAL experience. To me, it all comes down to a simple word. YES.
Let me explain: My AD has a YES attitude. When I wanted the newly released 118238 (right after Basel), the answer was yes. When I wanted unusual timepieces, they also came back with a yes. When I asked about a SS Daytona, they had....exactly, a YES for me (took them a few days to get it for me). Price is not always the deal, but the attitude, service and friendship you develop with the AD. Hey, if I can pick up the phone and order any watch and get a yes answer; that is a great deal. ...just my 2 cents.... |

Wow. These responses have really been informative.
Looks like those who looking for competive pricing and live near ADs willing to discount are fortunate. The rest of us may be well served from a cost perspective to purchase through one of the trusted sellers here associated with TRF. Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences. |

15% and no tax off of DSSD V series, or any new watch I want. I'm pretty sure I can get more if I refer more customers or buy more myself in the future.

I got 40% off of my Explorer II.
My wife had a work collegue who's sister worked for Ernest Jones (AD). Once a year all employees get a 40% off voucher. I bought hers for £200 and she met me at Bluewater EJ to do the deal. List at the time was £3380. Bargain.
