This was my first Rolex and the novelty has not worn off as I still were her proudly 4 years on. And I think this is one of my better pictures.

my first ever Rolex was a LV.... still loving it to bits today.

This sub is my third Rolex, as it happens - previously I had a gold Datejust and a SS Date.

Recently (it would have to be, as I've only had the watch for a month) I've been harbouring thoughts about a GMT IIc instead, but I've now decided that the 11610 is simply too beautiful to replace... any future watch will have to be as as well as, and not instead of. The proportions are perfect, and the subtelty of the design is a joy to behold. I look at it a hundred times a day when its on my wrist and I barely ever notice what time it is.

I reckon those of us lucky enough to own one will be thanking our lucky stars one day.

The 16610 was the very first Rolex I had the chance to wear - although it's not my favourite model, it certainly helped to contribute to my awakening as a WIS

I bought my first sub because I've always wanted one.



And then I bought an SD because I thought it would look good in the rotation with the Sub.


then I thought the Sub looked too much like the SD so I traded it in for an LV.


That's my Sub story.

Bought a pre-loved 16610 in '94. Flipped it for a GMT II Pepsi in '07. Realized I made a mistake. Bought an LV thinking it would satisfy me. Love the LV but can't/don't wear it all the time because of the green bezel. Wanted to keep the LV original and not add a black bezel so I bought a new 16610 from one of the good folks on TRF.

I hesitated to buy the sub, since it seems to be one of the most commonly owned models. After 4 datejust and turnograph (new style), I bought a preowned subdate that I love. I've never cared for lugholes, until this watch. More importantly each time I admire it ( which is ver regularly) I'm reminded that it was a reward for quitting smoking. That makes my sub technically priceless.

The 5512 is what got me hooked when I was 12 yrs old. I said if I ever have the opportunity to own a Rolex, the Sub was going to be it. 10 years later, no regrets

I bought my LV about 3 years ago after not having a Rolex for about 15 years. It was my first Sub.



Then my dad, who had been retired for some time and didnt wear his Sub anymore, gave it to me and I had it overhauled. Looks and runs like new after 22 years.




Now I'm waiting to see what the new Ceramic subs in SS look like.

I've always liked the Sub but so has everyone else! So, my first was the LV because it was a little more unique.

I also bought mine as a reward to myself for quitting smoking, I saved the cigarett money in an imaginary account and after 2 years there was enough to buy my sub at the AD. Got snubbed by the first AD so I went across the street to the second and bought it there.
Lots of other things happend that year, got married,turned 40... it was a good year.

Ha! Threads like this make me feel old.

My first Submariner was,...a bit before the 16610's time.

These have seen their share of the world,...and history.







This one went into the sewer one night after a murderer.




These have proven to be worthy successor's to the throne and "rode the river".





This was mine, but now is my son's. It runs into burning buildings while everyone else runs out.



I did break it in for him though.
