I'll be going to Europe in August....is it cheaper to buy in Europe?

You will get money back via duties but the euro is higher than the US dollar, so no.

Usually, no. Also remember, unless you plan to "sneak" your new watch back into the country, you will have to pay import duty on your purchase.

From my personal experience It depends on the country,the store, and your negotiating skills. With Cash (Euros) and good skills I think 30-35% on Gold and TT and 20% plus on SS (No hard to get models etc) Plus subtract the VAT(19-25%) and that's what you should get.Tell the store you have and want to pay cash your on vacation and want them to not charge you VAT some will and some will give you the story on how you can get it back. Go to the next store than. Its allot of work and time is money so only you know if the discount is worth the work.It might help you to post the country you are going to and if anybody has a good contact there.

NOTHING is cheaper in Europe compared to the US. I travel the US>UK route often for work, and pretty much have never come across something that is cheaper than in the US, and that's after all the tax refunds, and sneaking stuff back in the country.

Yep, I was in the UK and France in April and looked at some Rolexes while in London. After converting the prices into US dollars, the prices were higher.
I also visited some of the pre-owned shops in the Arcade on Bond Street, and while they had awesome collections, the prices were higher than I have seen here in the US.

As I compared in a regular way I found the european prices are the same.
But the thing is: your price are in dollar....and there are price in euro. The amount is the same

But after conversion dollar-euro you see 30% more expensive in Europe.

Live in UK and have always found the US prices to be similar enough, not to want to bother with the hassle of buying in the US and bringing back to the UK.

Imagine it's the same the other way.
