Anybody use a Roku box here?
I've been streaming Netflix on 2 Samsung Blu-ray players for about 9 months now. I really like it. Well I decided to try a Roku HD. It's $89 + shipping. Pretty cool. Netflix looks as good as my Samsung players and talk about additional content.
The only complaint that I have so far is not with Roku, but much of the commercial content (CNN, NBC, CBS, etc) transmit streams at a lower picture quality than what we are use to when viewing Netflix movies. Now this doesn't mean all content is lower quality. C-Net, TWIT, and others transmit in full HD. Anyway, just wondered who else might be doing the Roku. http://www.roku.com/ |

Wow, I'm confused. I thought this thread was about the number 6. I use that every day!

The quality content outside of Netflix on the Ruko reminds me of the tech dominated content that we had from 1993 to around 1998 on the Internet. Tech is always on the cutting edge, quality commercial content will follow as long as the cable companies don't squash it. I would easily pay $12-$18 per year for a quality commercial channel. Kinda like cable a-la-cart |

I have a PS3 and a computer, this device would be redundant for me, right? I have netflix and DirectTV, but my latest bent is trying to see if I can get out from the yolk of the $75+ a month we're paying for DirectTV.
We don't live in a metro, so I'm thinking the antenna on the roof isn't the best idea, does anyone have any viable options? I do love my ESPN football in HD. - Chris |
