Where do you buy replacement spring bars?

For an ExpII so that's a 2mm x 20mm bar, right?
Are the bars different for the no-lug-hole cases?
Rolex v non-Rolex bars?

It's not an emergency, but I have a new leather bracelet for my ExpII, and I can see myself loosing one during the process of changing bracelets and I'd like to have an extra or two.

There's a place in Oakland, Ca. that sells spring bars..."Ofrei", they have a website.

There are number of fake spring-bars out there, also known as after-market ones.

Best you get them from your AD - they aren't expensive and you will get the genuine ones so you don't lose your watch.

Yes.

No-hole cases use spring bars with little collars on the pin insert; you engage the collar to retract the pin from the lug for removal.

Cases with holes use plain pins with no collars.

I think the pins for cases with holes are a bit stronger because more pin goes into the lug.

Are the spring bars something that should be change from time to time? I was just thinking that if one of them were to break, we could lose the watch if we were over water...or in it.

Spring-bars should be changed every couple of years of so.. I have taken off some bracelets from watches only a few years old and the spring-bar came out in pieces.. They take all the strain of the connection at the case and because they are not solid like the link screws, they crack at the joint where the "spring" pivot fits into the main tube.. This is also where they are most likely to fail..

I have also seen spring bars that are worn through almost to the spring inside...these will fit sloppily at the bracelet and cause it to rub against the case and end-link wobble...
.... They're cheap and good insurance.........

Where are you located? It will help someone to recommend a local place you can pick up a spring bar.

If you are in Los Angeles, I recommend, Morgan's Jewelers. The one in Rolling Hills not Torrance. That is where I take my watches. The watch maker stocks simple parts. He will also order parts as needed.

Other AD’s I tried all wanted to send my watch to ROLEX just for a spring bar. Like that makes sense?!
