Ok, so it's only been three days with the Sub-C, but...

Hi all!

I thought I'd share some quick impressions for those who are interested in the new Submariner.

Although this new Ceramic Sub still has a 40mm case, the wider lugs and more pronounced crown guards make it wear just slightly larger than the previous sub. That slight difference, as it turns out, makes all the difference to me.

The case edges are a still crisp and defined, but less sharp than the previous Submariner. The crown is the same size (7mm) as the one on previous Subs. The case is roughly 12mm thick, so it'll fit under your sleeve with ease, and it's not so thick that you go banging into door frames with it.

I've also noticed the weight of this new Sub is a little closer to the old Sea-Dweller than the old Submariner. That said, it's well balanced on the new solid link bracelet and the sturdier clasp. It feels and fits absolutely perfect on my wrist.

The lume is not as bright as my Planet Ocean, but once your eyes adjust to the dark, it's competent and does its job throughout the night. The maxi dial and hands probably help in this regard, by providing more luminescent area.

I haven't checked the accuracy, but frankly, one can expect the 3135 caliber to run well within chronomter specs.

The new crystal is almost flush with the bezel. This is a change from the previous version where the crystal sat higher than the bezel. The crystal is not AR coated, but the cyclops is, thus making the date even more functional and very clear to read.

I've read that the bezel numbers are platinum, which is blasted during the manufacturing of the bezel. The two-tone and gold models use gold, instead of platinum.

I do wonder why they chose to have the bezel pip stand so high on the bezel. It's practically screaming to get knocked off.

One more note on the bezel. The bezel action itself is much smoother than the previous models. It's feels like a Seiko Marinemaster. Perfect.

It's really easy to live with this watch.

That's it for now. I hope to give an actual long term review of it in a few years (and for those of you who know me, yes, I know what you're thinking, but please allow me this moment of utter contentment).

Agreed about the Ceramic bezel...........very, very smooth to turn, much better than the existing 16610. Not sure if that justifies the much higher price though!! Still serves the same function!!

I have the TT ceramic version and a lady friend recently remarked that the new shape makes the watch look very refined and elegant.

I wasn't sure if a tool watch should fit that description but I decided to take it as a compliment anyway!
