The Ultimate Monster Watch: Takes on Rolex & G-Shock

Here is watch I was looking at --- looks like it can kick Rolex's behind and G-shock's behind .... the ultimate 800 pound Gorilla???

CX Swiss Military 20,000 feet: the World’s Toughest Watch

http://blog.perpetuelle.com/index.ph...any-condition/

http://swiss-watch-guide.com/2010/03...oughest-watch/

some Rolex bashing here:
http://www.hodinkee.com/blog/2009/12...rd-settin.html

Here are my questions:

1) Has DEEPSEA met its match?
2) Apart from the "resale value", does Rolex have a powerful punch for this CX watch? or will this CX make the DEEPSEA bend over?
3) Those wanting the DEEPSEA, should they consider this watch?
4) what kind of resale does this watch have?
5) Anyone has experience with this watch?
6) Worth the buy???
7) 10yrs down the line ... We know DEEPSEA will increase in desirability ... what about this CX?

What I can't understand is why did it have to be a chrono?

That's frightening.....love the CF, but it's gotta be huge on the wrist.

One of the reasons I bought the Deepsea was because it looked good. That watch looks like a clump of metal. Although, I'll keep it mind if I plan to stand next to explosives in the foreseeable future.

It's huge and looks well built.

The outer box is also of pretty decent quality and it seems very good value at a price I believe to be around £450.

Well done XC Military Watches.

LOL!!! HAHAHAHAAA!!! I love the dynamite test!

The Rolex in smithereens was priceless.

Realistically though, I wager nobody but nobody will actually ever actually use this thing as a daily wearer. Not one person on earth. 28.5mm thick? That's completely absurd, unusable. There will be people who buy it, but only to put it away in a drawer somewhere.

Thing is, though, you could make a mechanical watch that would be good to the entire depth of the Marianas Trench, (roughly 36,000 feet), without making it too large for regular use. High-purity silica glass is over 3 times as strong as sapphire. What's more, it actually 'heals' scratches at extreme pressure, since it's considered an amorphous material.

Annealed monomolecular silicon could be used as the case material; it's something like 10 times as strong as titanium, and can take a pressure of 1,000,000 psi, (67,000 Bar). (!)

Both of these materials are as cheap as sand. In fact, they are basically processed sand. Somebody needs to do this.

Its ok for the price but the profile of it looks like a diving bell (maybe that was the intention). Its not very subtle and i cant see anyone wanting to sell their DSSD to get this watch. Maybe its a dress watch and thats why it is a chrono.

I wouldn't trade my DS for one. I don't really think the DS got bent over with the introduction of this model.

The DSSD was never the deepest.

There are the oil filled watches and there is the sealed
PITA Barcelona.

Id rather have the DSSD anyway over the CX.... Ive had a DSSD and will own one again soon. I will NEVER dive anywhere near those depths nor will most anyone anytime soon and to top it off with all the modern equipment I never rely on my wrist watch when diving. I always have it on but its just because I like it! And its a good back up for a second back up

I saw the CX a couple weeks back in Switzerland and it looked more like a toy than a watch to me.

That has got to be the ugliest watch I've ever seen. The DeepSea is the NEW CLASSIC. The CX is nowhere near the beauty of the Rolex.

Ugly, if Rolex want they can create 25 000 ft water resistant watch, more practical and beautifull just like the Deep Sea, but no need right?
