No Paper certificate ?
Hi All,
Finally picked up a SS GMT master ii 116710 (just in time by the sounds of it). bought it new from an AD. Was a little disappointed as have always seen pictures of the watches for sale (on here etc) with a paper certificate and stamp etc aswell as the plastic card. Mine only came with the plastic warranty card....dealer said that they no longer issue the paper certificates as well? Is this correct?......shame i quite like the idea of a paper certificate aswell. |

You won't get paper now until it goes into the RSC for an overhaul in a few years.

Well there with there being a recession on......a recent 7% price increase...and the very small amount of profit rolex make on their watches........
It may just NOT be financially viable for them to still provide a simple paper cert aswell...ha ha !!!!!!!!! Agreed I know you don't wear a certificate but its adds that something extra and is old school. Something else to find in the safe in a few years to remind you of the day you bought your time piece. A bit like at school when you used to make a copy of the Magna Carta and stain it with coffee and burn the edges to make it look old...some how it became a treasured piece of paper. Bring it back I say ! |

Plastic is fine with me. It's durable, compact, fits nicely into the little case with the booklets, is virtually impossible to alter.
I doubt if anyone ever mounted and displayed the paper certificates, so the plastic gets the job done and will last for decades, perhaps centuries.
