Crown Question

Have a question for you Guys/Gals.At the beginning of every month I give my 16623 a full 40 wind. When need be,a date correction also takes place.A few days ago when I reset the Date, the first thing that comes to my mind is"I shouldn't have to use this much force to get the Crown into the Time reset position from the Date position".Does anyone else out there have a Crown that seems like you use a little "Ummph" to get it to the Time position.I hope I have made some sort of Sense here.Thx,T

On my Explorer, I sometimes get my finger nail caught in a thread instead of under the crown, which makes for some frustration when I'm trying to stop the second-hand exactly at 12 o'clock.

Could that have been your experience and your nail slipped under the crown after a hefty tug on the threads?

Don't do that Tim......

Sometimes mine is a little tight as well on my YM.. But I doubt it's only on that model also!
What I usually do so as not to force it out is,pop it back in to the winding position then pull all the way out from there..Give it a try mate!

I have the same issue with my YM. I found the solution by accident (which also sounds crazy). If I pull the crown out from the "open" areas it is very difficult. If I pull from the two sides were the crown guards are (12 & 6), it comes right out. I kinda use the guard as leverage and give it a very slight twist while pulling out, takes no effort this way.

Hi Tim,

I have the same issue with my GMT 11c and Pepsi. Sometimes it feels like I am going to do some damage when I try to hack them. If I push the crown back to the winding position, give it a few winds and try again it usually hacks ok.
I think that sometimes the gears don't quite line up.

Imo it's best to err on the side of caution than to use too much force - don't want to end up with the crown and stem in your hand.
