New to the forum

Hello.

Finally decided to register after months of lurking. I found this forum to be a fantastic help when purchasing my most recent watch, a 16710 Pepsi bezel GMT II. Its still growing on me, but fear I made the wrong decision over a 14060 Non-Date Submariner, as the GMT engulfs my somewhat girly wrists.

Anyway, Hi to all

I'm new here too. Just got a GMT-II 116710LN, my first Rolex and on eintend to wear for a very long time. I had long adored this watch and my parents presented it to me as a 40th birthday present, carrying on a short tradition, my mother received her Datejust back for her 40th. I'm greatly enjoying reading the posts here and learning about my and all of the other cool rolexes.

welcome to the forum! the 16710 gmtii is a great first rolex watch to own. it was also my first rolex, but i had the coke instead of pepsi. i, too, questioned myself for making the wrong decision because i always wanted a sub-date. the gmt is a great watch!

Welcome to TRF....!
The pepsi GMT is a classic watch that is becoming more popular by the day...
Hold on to it and save for the Sub...
Enjoy the forum,
Rob.

Welcome!!!!!

Can you post a wrist shot so we can see this "engulfed girly wrist"? Most guys in my opinion think their wrists appear much more "girly" than they really are.

Welcome to TRF and congratulations on your new piece! If I'm not mistaken, the diameter of both the GMT and the Sub are the same so one will look the same as the other on your wrist. But, you're probably just a tad sensitive about the size of the watch on your wrist; give it some time and you'll probably be quite happy with it!

Thanks for the warm welcomes people.

Had enough of the GMT today so traded it in for a 14060 Non Date Submariner. Just couldn't get used to the GMT. Have taken some pictures, please forgive me for the poor quality, they were taken on my blackberry and photography is not a skill of mine. First picture was the GMT, a wrist shot and finally, the new sub.

Edit to add: Images make the watches look battered. They are nice and shiny in the flesh.

Wow. That was a quick decision. Both watches look great. Although I am not sure how a 14060 is any smaller physically than a GMTII. Both 40mm and, if I am not mistaken, the Submariner is actually thicker. I am glad you found one you are happy with. Enjoy it and welcome to the forums!

Yes they are both the same size, strange but the sub just feels smaller. Maybe its the uncluttered face and no cyclops giving the impression its smaller. Also feels more comfortable to wear than the GMT, maybe down to the lack of the SEL?

Anyway, Hi to all
Are your girlie wrists more girlie then my 6.25???? I doubt it....the smaller wrists give the watch more presence...which make them more attractive IMO...Im sure you will get used to it!!!
Welcome, from one girlie man to another!

I too have the girlie-wrists...I wasn't sure that the larger Rolex would compliment my slight build

I had the same thoughts as I got my GMT II Pepsi as a 10-year anniversary gift. Months earlier, I pointed out a SS Sub in a store. My wife bought the GMTII Pepsi as she thought I pointed it out. For months, I was on the fence about the blue/red combination while wearing it with casual clothes or in a suit. It just didn't seem dressy or it just didn't seem casual enough. Perhaps it was me and my self-conscious attitude of owning a Rolex.

6 years later, I couldn't be happier. It stands out from time to time and it can be an attention-getter as well. In fact, I just found a member of my cycling club has the same one.

Of course, I now want a Sub.....and an Explorer II, a chemistry set, a train set and a motorcycle.
