refinished dial cut value 50% ?

i was told my vintage pink gold 6304 with jubilee bracelt would be worth 10,000 if the dial unfinished but with finished dial only worth 4500. is that accurate, i understand some devaluation but this seems extreme. watch was just serviced and has a nice case and jubilee bracelet. what is a fair price if i sell? thanks for any input

I would say you have to calculate by the price of the new dial not refinished and that would be what you could substract from the 10k..

I would say how much it worths at the end of the day depends on how good it is refinished and how much the buyer wants to pay. In these days a lot of people wants to make money out of it and not collecting. I saw an ad wanting $40k for a 6542. Will anyone buy it?

The value of most vintage watches is in the dial and hands; then overall condition..

For me I would not purchase a watch with a refinished dial. I would rather wait and save up and purchase an original.

Let me guess... you were told this by a prospective buyer, right?

I dont understand it either, I know having all original parts from the original date of manufacture is a premium but having a quality refinished dial or factory replacement shouldnt drop the value that much. I have been told similar things on my 1655 but when I wear it, it looks awesome even with the factory replacement dial and hands and when I look at some other 1655's with original hands and dials they look all beat up and trashy. But people say that is worth more than mine, It's just one of those things, I guess I should have kept the watch all messed up but at least now it looks awesome

History sells at a premium,it's not the beat up watch that rises the price but the fact it's not been touched,a mint looking watch untouched would attract a greater premium still.

I can beleive that, but a refurbished watch with factory parts still has history, so I dont agree with the large gap in value. if I buy a 65 Mustang I want it to look nice with a great refurb not be all beat up and original.

if the dial is replaced or refinished,if the hands are new,if the bracelet has been replaced then no those parts don't have history,that is probably why you don't buy a first edition of a book either,being untouched is everything to some people but for others reading the paperback is as satisfying.
