Where would you buy, AD or Grey Market Dealers?

Maybe it's has been posted here before..., yada, yada,... and all the usual repertoire....

But where do you prefer to buy your Rolexes from?

AD or Grey Market Dealers?

I usually buy from grey.
I only use AD for service and spareparts.
I don´t go to AD for trying on watches etc, so I don´t waste their time on me, so I feel fine about using grey dealers.

For me personally: grey!!
Tony (justrolexes)
David (DavidSW)
Flawless transaction from both. If you don't believe me look at the buyers/sellers who's who section.

As long as you buy from a reliable source grey market every time why pay AD high prices. As for the Rolex warranty its very very very seldom needed in the first two years anyway. And if it is its for very simple regulation that any good high street watchmaker could do in half a hour, and not the weeks when sent back to RSC via ADs.After any grey dealer warranty Rolex will quite happily take your money for service they wont care where it was bought.

The following are VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
-Oscar (bodybump), DavidSW, justrolexes (Tony G), and briboxer (Brian)

These gentlemen are THE VERY BEST and I will do business with them again and again (rain or shine)!!!!

To save money or for vintage, then go Gray Market if you buy from a trusted seller with a solid reputation.
However for new current models, I must admit I prefer a good AD (like all things there are good & bad) with great after sale service. As well you get a watch with a solid providence & papers. The gray market watch is the way to save big $, but often a good AD will discount an average 20% off list. There is also a shadow of doubt on the history & handling of the time piece.
I like mine new & fresh out of the Rolex shipping capsule with all protective stickers in place. It costs a little more, but gives peace of mind on such an expensive purchase, especially as you go over the $5000 mark.
My 2 cents. Cheers

If the cash flow was not a matter, I would support the AD. But, we that live in the real world will always appreciate saving money...yes?
And, with the savings, we can support that next "got to have it" rolex!

I bought two Rolex watches from a Gray Dealer and they both came in all the original Rolex packaging with all hanging tags and stickers in place. My Gray Dealer even put in writing for me which AD he bought them from. There was never any question about history or handling of my watches. I feel very comfortable. But, hey, to each his own, it's what makes the world go round.

I second that!

For me, I go AD all day long, if that AD will give me the right pricing, next, well, that would have to be Tony G and after that, here on TRF or even an eBay deal, if I feel comfortable, of course, with the seller and the deal.

It doesn't matter to me.......whoever gives me the best deal gets my business.
I've purchased three from DavidSW and two from an AD.

AD for first time purchase.
Grey for next.

For my first, I wanted to go with the AD experience instead of opening a fedex box, etc only because it was my first Rolex to reflect some pretty big achievements over this past year. The sizing, compiments, trying on the others before he handed me mine, etc was fun and memorable. Plus the AD matched the Grey market price so the AD experience was a bonus.

For my next I will most definately go with Grey being I will be looking for a Coke GMT with Jubilie bracelet. At that moment, I will look up the TRF dealers for sure.

I've never tried on a Rolex, much less bought one. For the past several days I've been enjoying all the photos on this web site. The watches look amazing and I would love to own one.
Later today I plan to make my first visit to an Authorized Dealer. My expectation is that they will allow me to try on a watch or two, and when I ask about price I expect the salesperson will tell me "we are not allowed to discount a Rolex watch".
I do not plan to buy a watch today, but instead just try on a Rolex for the first time and get a sense of what model I might most enjoy wearing. Looking forward to it.
